IT'S OFFICIAL!

DECOBAND WINS!
PEN WORLD BEST VINTAGE INSPIRED PEN AWARD!

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a75/wahlnut/ReiplDECO6_zpspogohijl.jpg
The news of winning had to be kept quiet until today. But now news of this achievement can be announced! For a boutique manufacturer to be nominated for 5 awards in 2 years:
Pen of the YEAR 2 years
Best Daily Write 1 year
Best Vintage Inspired Pen 2 years
and to win this year is quite an honor. Thanks to all those who voted and to the many people who have added one of our pens to their collection or writing rotation! The DECOBAND pens released in Fall 2015 marked till-then the high watermark in attempting to reproduce some of WAHL-EVERSHARP's great hits.
That achievement has only been recently eclipsed ever so slightly by the release of the DECO DEMO transparent pens!

This year the WAHL-EVERSHARP DECOBAND was nominated for Best Vintage Inspired Pen and Pen of the YEAR! Statistics are not available for any placing other that winner, but its been said that The DECOBAND showed very well in the competition for Pen Of The Year this year!

THANKS EVERYONE!

@ FOUR X FOUR - I read this thread earlier and saw your question about why to use rubber for the sac. I touched on that topic in post #20 of my review thread:

Hope that helps.

Congratulations, Syd! Well deserved honor. I'm lucky to be the proud owner of the WE Decoband. It's a beautiful pen. Kudos to you and your team for reviving the WE brand with such respect to the original. You have become the gold standard for pen brand revision and deserve all the honors coming your way.

Fascinating pens :yikes:

I'm tempted by the demonstrator, such beauty!!

But what is the difference between the two nib options?

Anybody know where I can see writing samples?

Thanks

The super flex starts off wider, like an M, flexes a bit easier, and goes wider than the other.

See my review for a writing sample.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
