Has anyone been in touch with Subramaniam of ASA pens recently? I've been trying to communicate with him for some weeks, to no avail. I hope he and his family are OK.

I've seen he's been replying to threads on here in the last few days, maybe try sending him a pm? I also know he can be a little hard to contact sometimes, many people say he reply's instantly, others say it takes days. Don't worry he's a reputable member of the forum and seller. Maybe someone else will be able to give you his whatsapp.

He updated the status of my order to shipped, on the third of May. But it had been a while since I last heard from him prior to that (my order was initially placed in early February)

I am having the same problem myself. I have ordered several times with him with no problem, and his products are great. its just that this time several weeks have gone by with no response to my emails. the first shipment was lost by the mail and the second pen was supposed to have gone out weeks ago. has anyone had this same situation?

I spoke with him last night on Whatsapp. He and his family are fine, but Chennai was battered by a cyclone earlier this week and they are still recovering. According to Subbu, electrical power is intermittent and the under sea cables that connect India to the world were damaged. It might take some time before Subbu is back at work, so please bear with him.

I am sorry to hear about that problem in Chennai. My heart goes out to all especially the vulnerably housed and poor at this time. I have bought from ASA pens and have contacted Subbu and his customer service is first class. If he hasn't contacted you it is probably because he has some major headaches at the moment with that weather.

Thank you gopool for the news.

I hope all get back to normal fast, and that Mr Subramaniam will be able to resume his activity.

Best of luck to all, in Chennai, who are facing difficulties, still.

Yes, the issue is with the power supply...

and it is actually very intermittent or inconsistent...

thus no pen making... and no internet...

Hopefully the situation will improve day by day...

I emailed ASA pens 10 days ago asking if I could purchase some Jowo threaded pens without the nibs and converters because I already have too many Jowo nibs/converters around. I still haven't heard from them. I haven't contacted them before so I have no idea what's the typical repond time. Do you think it's a stupid question they don't bother to answer or I just have to wait longer, or it's better to just send another email? I used the gmail on the website: asapens.in@gmail.com. Thanks.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
