Unauthorized Platinum Preppy Cartridge Swap - Black For Green

I got Preppys in black (0.5) and green (0.3) a while back, the green was way too light for me, especially in a fine point. I chose to disregard the stern warnings on the pen (Warning: ... do not mix different inks). I mixed different inks (swapped cartridges without cleaning/flushing anything). The green pen changed to writing an almost pure black color (and the ink ran out shortly after, I didn't get a picture). The black pen now writes in sort of a strange "dark army green" color, I'm not sure I'd buy an ink this color, but it's more easily readable to me than Platinum's stock green.

One of the other warnings is: "do not use this pen other than for writing". Going to find a way to disobey The Man on that one, too. I've already violated "use Platinum cartridge ink" on the 0.3 after the ink ran out.

Warning! Warning! Clear the area! ;)

I've been refilling Preppies willy-nilly since I got them. The green one drinks JH Lierre Sauvage; the blue gets Diamine Denim. The yellow, some sorta brown mix. (gasp!)

I have yet to use them for target practice.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

I guess we'll be seeing each other in jail. I'd use my pen to pick the lock, but that's breaking Rule 1.

Mine is my "permanent backup" pen. It typically is loaded with Noodlers 54th as an eyedropper, sometimes BSB, sometimes Quink Black. Aside from the initial weak red cartridge it has never had Platinum ink in it.

I love it.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Um....

Do not pick locks with the pen.

Do not stir coffee with the pen uncapped.

Do not poke spouse with the pointy end.

Do not get caught.

If you do get caught, don't talk to the pen police or the group that checks the pillows and couches for tags.

No drawing? :yikes:

I would figure drawing would count as writing. Just don't dig a hole in the paper, or the bottom of the jail cell, OK? ;)

If it isn't too bright for you, it isn't bright enough for me.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
