My wife is a very persuasive person and somehow she setup a tour and meet and greet with the owner of the Bexley Pen Company. I just recently received a Poseidon Magnum II in Blue Lagoon and absolutely love it.

Not sure what to expect, but will report back with any information, pictures, etc after the visit, which will be the morning May 19th.

I've got the best wife ever!! :D

Bexley is in OH? Nice! How interesting that we have two respected pen companies (Bexley and Edison) here!

I'm looking forward to trying out a few Edisons at the pen show in Nov. - will have to add Bexley to the list as well.

Okay, that *officially* trumps the best Xmas gift I ever got, which was a boxed set of the 2 volume Compact OED (complete with magnifying glass, plus an addendum volume). I went around for the next couple of weeks telling random strangers "My husband got me a dictionary for Christmas -- isn't that AWESOME?" They probably all thought I was nuts, but it's incredibly practical for finding earliest instances of usage (which is great if you do medieval re-enactment/re-creation).

You will love meeting Howard Levy the owner of Bexley Pen Co. He is a wonderful person. His facilities are located in Dublin, Ohio, right outside Columbus.

Only thing is this- under no circumstances should you tell Howard that you might be a Michigan fan!!!!!:):)

I would never do such a thing!! lol :D

Our household bleeds Scarlet and Grey.

Growing up I was a Notre Dame fan.

when I met me future wife, one of the stipulations of her marrying me was that I had to be an OSU fan. I counter stipulated that she would have to drop the Cleveland Browns and be a Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

We've been married happily for 12 years now. :D

A Steelers' fan? Well at least it's not the Bengals.

Looks like a lot of my favorite stuff is made in Ohio. Abrams tanks and fountain pens! Of course it's too cold for football up there, so I have to go to Tuscaloosa to watch in a comfortably mild fall and winter. ;-)

:lticaptd:

A few summers ago my husband and I went out to Lehman's Hardware, in Kidron, OH. It was an interesting experience, but the only thing we bought was fudge from the fudge counter. We bought some of the chocolate and orange flavor, but almost didn't because the girl working that counter said customers would come in looking for the "Cincinnati Bengals" fudge....

Yeah. When I first moved to Pittsburgh I had to learn to actually pay attention to football. And to dutifully bleed black and gold....

The locals aren't quite so rabid about baseball, fortunately. Mostly because for years the Pirates were just awful and their sole purpose appeared to be everyone else's farm team.... Which meant that I didn't have to give up being a Yankees fan. As opposed to the four years we lived outside Boston, where I had to be VERY circumspect. (And yes, I did in fact root for the Mets in the 1986 World Series -- hard as it was, it was rooting for them or rooting for the enemy).

I grew up in PA, but the only PA team I rooted for were the Steelers.

Baseball, I'm a Dodgers fan, and hockey, was a Capitals fan. I've since converted over to Columbus Blue Jackets, although some times I wish I was still a Caps fan. The Jackets have had some issues being consistent over the last few years.

So...

Howard Levy is a pretty awesome guy. So gracious and down to earth. While the faculty is not huge, they've got the space to get the job done.

So much history in the companies short (in relation to other pen makers) time.

The biggest surprise is that my wife got me a 2016 owners club pen. Green and black with a medium nib. Howard inked it up for me there and I've had a hard time not writing with it since. Such a great pen!!

A fantastic experience and the best birthday gift/surprise ever! My wife done good!!

Wow! What a nice gift {thumbsupthingie}, and Howard is one of the good guys.

Folks buy his pens often and with absolute confidence.

I have been for twenty odd years. This of course is my

personal opinion and yours will and or may differ.

{I brought along to use three Bexs' today...love'em}

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
