Is Taccia Still A Thing?

Hey Folks--

I was going through my collection the other day, and found my very first nice fountain pen--a Taccia Staccato blue lagoon fine nib. I love this pen still.

But it got me thinking. Is Taccia still a brand? I've not really heard anything from or about them since the Savanna buffalo horn pen. I know that we fountain pen users can chase trends too. I was just curious if anyone knew!

With kind regards,
-Matthew

I think they are still going alright. I see the Taccia Covenant pen attracting attention from time to time on various blogs, etc.

If I wanted to look at their line, do they have official (online) distributors, or am I better off waiting for a pen show?

With kind regards,

All three carry Taccia pens. No affiliation, other than having bought pens/ink, and refills from all three.

I have a lovely Taccia Portuguese in blue that I ink up from time to time. Had to get it adjusted, but it is now a sweet little writer.

Too skinny of a pen for my liking. If some of the models you mentioned were bigger, with gold nibs, I'd like them

I have a couple of Taccia Covenants and I quite like them, but the company itself is so low profile as to be practically invisible. They could really benefit from more vigorous marketing.

I purchased a Taccia Bamboo for my husband. It a lovely pen and writes very well. It isn't made of bamboo. It is a metal pen with but the cap is undulated like bamboo with some sort of inlay. It's quite nice, and the pen writes very well.

I have a couple of Taccias and like them very much. Well made and nice smooth writers

I came across them quite by accident at a local B&M pen show

I agree they could do with a more vigorous marketing approach. There are obvious good people making an excellent product but my feeling is that they are being short-changed by "the suits"

As I mentioned in the OP, my very first 'nice pen' was a Taccia Staccato in a beautiful shimmering Blue Lagoon finish. It was the first pen that wasn't a Noodler's or Lamy, and set me down the path of nice pens. Writes well, feels solid but very light, great pen.

With kind regards,
-Matthew

Slightly OT: does anyone here know whether the sections of Taccia Staccato FP and RB are interchangeable?

:-)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
