Okay, worn piston seal. Not uncommon but also not really user repair candidate.

I have a whole case of o-rings from Harbor Freight! lol... ok, so how much will something like this cost me to get fixed? Should I send it to Montblanc, or a private repair guy?

Montbalnc will not be able to fix it. My first suggestion would be to ask Bert Oser and the good folk a Fahrneys if they can replace the piston head for you.

So, I checked with Bert and he quoted me a very fair ballpark price for fixing the Montblanc...

 

I think I'm missing the piston guide from the pen, though I don;t imagine that would cause a leak...

 

I got a Waterman converter for the HD and she's writing beautifully!

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..
