Sending Pelikan Back To Germany

Rocket1

Recommended Posts

Hey y'all,

Just wondering, what is the procedure for sending pens back to Germany for repair if you didn't want to go through chartpak for example? Do you just pop it into an envelope with some shipping and a return address and a note to explain the problem?

Many thanks in advance

Chartpak has nothing to do with the UK market for Pelikan. If you need a repair to a Pelikan pen, return it to the retailer from which you bought it and they will take care of it.

You can also contact Pelikan directly through the form in their website. I think all this things go through Stone Marketing. I am not sure if they do some repairs 'in-house', or if they sent all the pens to be repaired in Germany. The two times I contacted them I finally decided not to send the pen (the first one I returned it to the seller for a refund, the second I learned through these forums that the problem was only cosmetic and frequent in all M200 demonstrators) so I cannot give you more information about their service.

Chartpak, Inc = North American Distributor

Stone Marketing Ltd = U.K. Distributor

I have tried to contact Pelikan directly in the past through the contact form on their website preferring not to go through Chartpak for a repair and that email got redirected back to Chartpak (to my dismay) so I had no choice but to deal with them. I am not familiar with how Stone Marketing handles issues or if the experience would be similar. I would approach Pelikan directly first via their website and go from there. Good luck with it.

PELIKAN - Too many birds in the flock to count. My pen chest has proven to be a most fertile breeding ground.

My dealings with Martin have been excellent. Go with your retailer not Stone.

I've sent Pelikan pens to Stone Marketing for free nib exchanges, and never had any problems.

It was my understanding that if a Pelikan needed repair then Stone Marketing would mail it to Pelikan. It's much easier/less expensive for a UK owner to mail a Pelikan, insured for it's full value, to Stone Marketing than to mail it to Germany.

Stone are fine but it is usually best to deal with your retailer. I believe that some retailers bypass Stone but I may be wrong.

My Pelikan pens are usually purchased from Amazon so that's why I use Stone Marketing.

After some pretty terrible experiences with Amazon (not pens) I stick to authorised retailers for new pens. If you use Amazon then, I agree, Stone is the best bet.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
