I contacted Sailor last week to ask about this. They confirmed there are no Sapporo or Pro Gear mini models currently in production. What a pity! (And now I have a WTB posted in the Classifieds Section!)

Both yes and no

First the only pro gear mini out there is only available from one store and thats Morita's in Osaka

2 yes it is no longer in regular production so if your looking for a pro gear mini from morita expect it to be in his special robin egg color

So while yes it is still available it is no longer part of regular production same goes to the profit mini

But is still part of shop exclusives so you may need to go through hoops and bounds for one really

...and he gets his stock directly from Sailor, so if Sailor is out of stock, Engeika won't be able to get it.

It's a phenomenal pen - in a test I did, it easily bested all competition. I've added other similar sized pens, but the result has not changed.

I can't believe (or understand why) they discontinued it...

Too many pens; too little writing.

Engika's stock is shown as "inquire" rather than " add to cart " .

Aha, so I see. It's a bit confusing, in that some pens in the line are specifically shown as "out of stock," while these explicitly say "In Stock." Oh, well. The ups and downs of dealing with Engeika. Patience is required.

I just successfully ordered one from Morita's so can second he still has them in stock. (Also I tried Engeika about two weeks ago—he confirmed he cannot get them...) Looking forward to trying the pen!

I just received my Morita Sapporo this week in that gorgeous blue (not the mini - though it was available), and the process was not difficult at all! I used White Rabbit Express as my agent, and they were very easy to work with. (Morita does not ship outside Japan) Don't be discouraged if you want to buy this pen. Price was approx $125 including fast shipping and White Rabbit's services. Well worth it!

it is out of production and what a shame. i too been looking high and low for one. only cause i like the size and would love to get one for traveling purpose, as it is a more convenient size to carry around.

Take a look at the Franklin-Christoph pocket 20 .

thank you for the reference. did you mean FC pocket 40? i have gone online to have a look and it looks really nice. however, it seems to me it is more of an eye-dropper type of pen. i prefer a pen that comes with a converter.

No, I meant pocket 20 .

Not familiar with the pocket 40 , which I think has been discontinued .

There's a new pocket model called the 45 but also not familiar with that model .

FC has great customer service and a 30 day no questions asked money back guaranty .

They are not in production currently. But Sailor still receive Special orders from shops such as Morita and Nagasawa. I believe there will be more special limited editions as long as Sailor exists.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
