Tibaldi Art Nouveau Eye Candy

So I have one of these Tibaldi Art Nouveau fountain pens. It's a beauty. Unfortunately I'm going to need to sell it. This isn't a plug, but I took a bunch of pictures of the pen for the sale post and I figured I'd share them here for all the Italian pen fans. It's a really beautiful pen. I think it got some mixed reviews when it was first released for not being 'vintage' enough. Specifically, it's not based on any one particular vintage Tibaldi. But it does have, I think, a distinct vintage quality. The size and proportions particularly- this doesn't have that typical crazy oversized modern pen quality. In any case, it's a beautiful pen. Enjoy the eye candy! Maybe I'll post a few more of it later, compared to some Modello 60s or an Iride....

A lovely pen, indeed! So sorry that you must part with it. Unfortunately, it is probably way out of my price range. Good luck with your sale.

Yes, that's one of the M620 Cities pens...an M600 sized pen series that Pelikan made about ten years ago maybe? Well, they started as cities but by the time they were done they were celebrating places. This is one of the final pens in the series, I believe it's the Picadilly Circus. Funky material I've never really seen anything else like it. The grey is partially translucent.

best,

Doug

I've never had, nor even handled, a Tibaldi. IIRC, I've checked them and found them to be too dear for my budget. This one looks pretty, except that the clip is gaudy for my taste.

If they are good writers (most important quality, over and above appearance, etc.), I might like to have one. Price would be determining factor, all else being satisfactory.

Nice pictures. Thanks.

I would have snatched it if it was the green art nouveau- I've been wanting that pen for some time.

Anyway I think your price is fair so good luck with the sale.

What ink are you using- is that Asa Blue?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
