Special Edition Platinum 3776 Century?

Recommended Posts

Goulet Pens recently posted a pic on their Instagram of a SE Platinum 3776 Century which is exclusive to them, called "Stardust." This led me to wonder what other special or limited edition Platinum 3776 pens have been made (or are available).

I know that Sailor seems to reguarly make SE/LE pens for certain retailers, like Anderson Pens, FP Hospital, BungBox, etc...but I hadn't before heard of Platinum doing the same. My imagination is now awash with images of beautiful (and hard to find) special edition pens.

Store limited edition other than the Goulet one that I am aware of is the Nagasawa Censke, which incidentally just got restocked.

The Golden Bells, yellow colored one for Mitsukoshi.

There's also been a special model for the Japanese pen club Wagner, this green demo. with pink gold trims.

Lr pen sunrise in Osaka also has Platinum LEs

Pilot and Platinum arent that well know for making LEs as much as Sailor does though... But that doesnt exempt them from the rule as they do make LEs not as frequent as Sailor does at least from my primary observation mostly you can expect them in Major pen fairs in Japan

I just got my Stardust today. I couldn't resist; I like the 3776 a lot, and it's a good pairing for my Sailor Starburst Galaxy. Glad I ordered when I did, because the mediums are all sold out. Promptly inked it with Diamine Sparkling Shadows, and it's writing quite well.

One thing that the listing doesn't mention is that the pen is oh-so-slightly-translucent, like the Chartres or Bourgogne; you can clearly see the nib in the cap in normal lighting conditions, and you can see the ink in the converter if you hold it up to a light source. Very pretty!

I'd love to see some pictures, if you're able. :)

The stardust effect is subtler than in the studio pictures; it is really glittery when it catches the light, or outside in sunlight. It's a hard pen to take good pictures of. I gave it a shot, though. These are linked to bigger versions on imgur.

I saw it on the Goulet's Facebook and was immediately enthralled! I've been eyeing an Edison and the Stardust is in the same price range so I was rethinking my order a little... I love how sparkly it is, very subtly beautiful. Congrats on getting one!

I'll come up with something eventually.

So I just learned that Goulet Pens won't be getting any more Stardust pens in stock. What they had was it, and they're all sold!

I'm so bummed. I really wanted to buy one of these. Had I know they were a limited edition I would have jumped on it immediately. I wish Goulet Pens had advertised that that was all the stock they were going to have. :(

I ordered one of the 3776 Stardust fine points the instant it showed up on the Goulet web page, as: 1) it just looked like a great looking version of a pen I already knew and liked, and 2) it looked like it would sell out almost instantly.

I don't even have it yet but I'm glad I ordered it as I had no idea how limited their stock was, or that, apparently, they won't be getting anymore of them.

I have to ask, is there someplace where these pen holders are readily available? Thanks!

I now have my 3776 Stardust LE! An excellent writer, as all my 3776s are, and as good-looking as that picture in the original post - very happy with it :) .

Beautiful pen, too bad they sold out so soon. I just heard about it, then it was gone

If you like glittering pens, look out for a Sailor Promenade. That looks very similar to this Platinum 3776 Century.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
