Nice review! It definitely has a purple cast to it.

Interesting, your version looks actually brown while the sample I got from the 2015 Group Buy purchase was definitely on the "grape" or "burgundy" side. Mine looks more like in the swab than in the writing.

Still a very good ink.

For what it's worth, I've found that paper has a huge impact on how brown or purple the ink looks (that's always true, obviously, but more so in this case, in my experience). I've only been using this Graphilo paper for a few days and I've found it does some interesting (i.e., weird) things to ink. On the other hand, I haven't seen the ink appear as purple in writing as it does in my swatch, regardless of paper.

I enjoyed your review of one of my favourite KWZ inks - thank you.

If you like this ink you should try Konrad's Grey Plum; another interesting & intriguing colour.

I love it because I see some aubergine in it.

Grey Plum is definitely on my list of samples to order next!

Same!

Where did you get the Graphilo paper?

I ordered from their site, using White Rabbit:

The notebooks are amazing.

A really interesting colour, thanks for the review! :) You've helped me decide which inks to order from KWZ (I always wanted Honey, but I wanted two to make the most of postage, and couldn't make up my mind what the second should be).

I can also heartily recommend Hunter Green! :)

The ink is really nice. :) very unique.

How do you find graphillo paper? I have a notebook from pen & message but haven't started using it. How would you compare it with Tomoe River? I did see that it was thicker, but that's about it.

I'm really enjoying it. From what I've seen, inks behave fairly similarly on it and on TR, but the Graphilo feels just a little more textured, which is a nice change. The fact that it's thicker is also nice - I love TR, but I wanted a notebook for ink swatches and reviews where showthrough wouldn't be as much of an issue as with TR, and the Graphilo gives me that. And the notebooks seem exceptionally well-made.

That's a very nice looking ink, thanks for the review.

I'm really getting to like KWZ inks (just got my second batch, some greens this time after purples the first time), and that pink-brown is high on the list now.

I'm curious to see how this compares to PR Black Cherry—another difficult-to-classify ink in this shade family.

I got a sample of this at Xmastime, and immediately ordered a bottle of it (along with Grey Plum and IG Turquoise). It has quickly become one of my favourite inks.

"Brown Pink" may not immediately conjure up beautiful images, but this is a complex, beautiful ink.

Is this one the same as the 'Rifle Green' reviewed on this site previously?

That's part of the problem, every time I think I've decided on a second colour, I look at more reviews on this site and there's yet another delectable colour calling my name.

That was my reaction at first too: Brown Pink? Ew. I'm glad I took a chance on a sample.

Yep, Hunter Green is Rifle Green. It's beautiful (I'll be posting a review of it sometime today).

Yes, two colours that aren't normally paired. I myself like to call it Black Swan in Polish Roses, as it reminds me of both those Rose-y inks :D

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
