Nice, lucky! If you're looking international then the best prices for Pelikan I have found are in Malaysia. I bought my m400 tortoise 2 months ago from this store when I was visiting. He said Malaysia does indeed have the best prices because the owner of Pelikan lives there ?!

Anyway check out the website and compare prices https://ksgills.com/product-category/pens/pelikan/pelikan-souveran-800/

You might try contacting Fontoplumo... I got mine from him almost 7k cheaper than Delhi Price...

Are you referring to this website: https://fontoplumo.nl/shop/en/pelikan-fountain-pens/1567-pelikan-souveraen-m805-fountain-pen-blackblue-18k-nib.html

It seems to be more than 30K if you convert. Correct me if I am wrong.

Generally what price is considered a good deal for a M800?

when you log in and put in ur Indian address... You will realize that the price goes down to 388 euros as vat is deducted....

Secondly, you can apply discount code which will give extra 10% off...

so the deal is around 25k and that is an amazing price... though u might have to pay a little extra to the bank for forex charges ... which these days is 1 %

  • 2 weeks later...

Was looking to buy a M800 recently for a colleague and looking at some good reviews went with Fontoplumo as well.

Opted for UPS and it just reached Mumbai. The UPS tracking though now says "Documentation required for import is incomplete or missing. We are working to obtain this information." + "Held in Warehouse"

I was thinking that if at all any tariff is charged, inspite of it being a gift, it would be collected at the time of delivery. Do I need to send UPS anything or will they contact me soon for any documents ?

Thank you for any advice.

arunmadhav, I replied to your question on other topic. But I have received pens with value of 200-300 USD without any customs charges and had to pay customs charges for pens valued at around 100 USD. So my guess is that the customs check parcel at random and impose duty. Once I was charged a customs duty of INR 1050 for a pen send through DHL marked as gift and declared a value as USD 30. The valuation is their discretion in my opinion, sometimes you are lucky and sometimes you aren't.

Hi

When ordering from Fontoplumo you chose UPS as the shipping method or NL post (which is the EMS equivalent may be).

Bump.

Anyone else who has purchased a Pelikan of late?

Ravi from penspoint has listed the M800 Blue for around 27K. Cultpens is coming out to be around 22K.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
