~ Vancouver Pen Club meeting ~


Date: Thursday April 21. 2016
Place: Venue change!! TERRY SALMAN branch of the Vancouver Public Library at 4575 Clancy Loranger Way (on the lower level of the Hillcrest Community Center) in Vancouver, BC. The meeting will take place in their Community Room.
Time: 6:30pm to 8:30pm
Theme: : OMAS Fountain Pens


As many of you know, sadly, OMAS has gone out of business, so please bring your OMAS fountain pens for us to see, since they won't be making any new ones (unless someone takes over the company)...
Our secondary topic is always New Acquisitions ,so if have any new pen-related tems, please bring them to the meeting!

Please note: Perks' new store hours are Wed - Sun : Noon to 5PM (changed from 11am to 5pm)
Store still closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.


Meetings are held monthly, on the third Thursday of each month, except December
(no meetings in December) .

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy.       I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
