Where To Get Replacement Platinum Feed?

Recommended Posts

I have a Platinum Bourgogne with a broken feed. This is the 3776 "standard" size.

Feed separated about 1/3 back from the nib - no idea how, I took the pen out to write and the front of the feed was where it wasn't supposed to be.

I suppose it's pointless to try to glue it together. Everything else on the pen is fine.

Where can I get/buy a replacement feed??

thnx,

Try sending the pen back to Platinum.

Well, I guess that's a possibility. But since the feed can be swapped out in about 10 seconds, that's not what I would prefer.

thnx,

In my experience, Platinum really prefers to deal with distributors and authorized resellers. But they will try to help if nobody else will, or if your pen is out of warranty. Platinum's direct Email address is on their Web site.

If the pen is out of warranty, send an Email to Platinum Japan (they have someone who reads English), explain which pen and nib you have, that the pen is out of warranty, what happened to the feed, and that you are capable of changing the feed yourself. Include your complete mailing address and ask them to mail you a replacement feed. Offer to pay for the feed and mailing costs (but I seriously doubt you will have to).

If the pen is still in warranty, contact the retailer and ask them to get you a feed. If they can't (or won't), then get a return authorization and return instructions. Send the retailer the broken pen and be done with it. Or then try contacting Platinum direct.

Good Luck, David

Thanks. I've emailed the US distributor. If I get no where with them, I will contact Japan next...

Did this work out?

They sent a replacement feed.

These are designed in a way that makes them quite weak compared with other pens that I'm familiar with. The front and back halves are connected by a thin plastic strip next to the nib. You can't really see this until you remove the nib. Or break the feed, which I did by adjusting the placement of the nib over the feed.

Works fine when it's not broken. You just need to take extra-extra care when tuning or adjusting how the nib/feed work.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
