I'm really happy that this topic dedicated to the photography of a pen among the most iconic can continue to serve as information and inspiration for ever new readers ... A small illustrated encyclopedia of Montblanc Hemingway!

Here is another pair of shots:

How timely, today I received a beautiful Hemingway in very good lightly used condition. Once I recover from the excitement I will post some writing samples in the 'which pen are you using' thread.

These pens are stunning, as I doubt I will ever find one, what pens look similar? I see the Parker big red looks close. Are there any others? I love the colour combination.

This shot in particular was taken with a Zeiss Makro-Planar 120mm and a Hasselblad mechanical camera fitted with a CFV-16 digital back. This back was and still is capable of recording really superb images with its "fat pixels". Edited by fpupulin

You will need a few years to fully recover from the excitement. Actually, it may well be that you will never recover completely...

Welcome to the Hemingway company!

There are quite a number of fountain pens built around the and orange and black scheme. Here are a few:

- Bookworm 675 Black Orange Silver Flower Amber

- Conklin Duragraph Orange Black

- Delta Dolce Vita in its various iterations

- Gama Oriole Jumbo Orange Celluloid

- Kaweco AC Sport Carbon Orange

- Leonardo Officina Italiana Exclusive Momento Zero Orange Black

- Montegrappa Miya Carbon Black/Orange

- Pelikan Souverän M800 Burnt Orange

- Virage Black & Orange Crush Acrylic

… and, if you look for something more orange than black:

- vintage and modern Parker Duofold “Big red”

- Aurora Ipsilon Orange Satin Orange

- Aurora 88 Sole

- Aurora Optima Sole

Like every quarter, for twenty years now, the time has come to send out our scientific journal for the printer.

For this, it is necessary to review the drafts, find any errors, and sign the imprimatur (which they call a visto bueno) for the printing company to print the fascicle.
For many years now - I don't even remember how many - the honor of this latest revision and the signature of the imprimatur has been up to my Hemingway. And here she is, intent on her duty:

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
