Prithwijit and Sanjay,

Awesome looking pens. Congrats on the acquisition. I have drooled over Ken's creations before.

Awesome Pens! Congratulations to both of you!

Wonderfully executed indeed!

I think Ranga should have this design as a regular offering.

Very nice review, especially the awesome pictures.

Having drooled over them, I am comforted in the fact that I might one day have one of these too, if I am lucky.

Cheers

Sudhir

Very nice pen, I hope this becomes part of their standard line up.

Thank you all for your appreciation and encouraging comments. I love using this pen with any shade of brown.

Regards,

Dear Respected Mr Kandan Sir :) ,

Thank you for dropping by and leaving your comments on my review thread. There seems to be a lot of interest on acrylic sugarcane pens. Hopefully someday you may consider this and acrylic Bamboo in your regular lineup.

THANK YOU, both the craftsman who made it and the pen enthusiast that started the thread and let us share this marvel.

Only one question: does the "knot" on barrel bother while writing? I cannot stand any protuberances on pen barrels, since for some reason (Murphy´s law, maybe?), they all rest precisely on that part of the hand that is the "base" between thumb and forefinger.

It certainly would be interesting if someone were to work with the turner's workshop and Ranga to put together a group buy ...

Just sayin'

Hi Plumista,

I had similar concerns but thankfully that has not been the case due to a couple of reasons. Firtsly, the knot doesnt have any kind of sharp edge for you to feel it even if it touches the 'base' between the hand and the finger and secondly because it doesn't touch that in my case. Hope this helps.

Hi Ron,

Group buys usually take a lot of time and energy and I am unfortunately unable to dedicate that to the project for now. But of you are keen, please PM me and I may help you somewhat.

This seems a very nice design.

Any chance that we could get our paws on one.

Hi,

You can always reach out to Ken carver for the original and for now that would be my recommendation. Else, please reach out to Mr Kandan of Ranga pens to check out of they would oblige.

Fantastic pens. The design, the material, the colours and the craftsmanship, everything has come out beautifully.

The review made very interesting reading. I read carefully to learn what the material was and the OP saved that information for the very end. Both pens are beautiful but I prefer the darker one myself. Congratulations to all concerned for a successful project!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
