The first bottles and cartridges of Montblanc's Golden Yellow becama available in December 2015. The bottle is the typical rectangular 30 ml glass bottle which has been used for other past limited production inks.

I love yellow color. I have - I believe 6 yellow t-shirts and 4 yellow fouintain pens. When it comes to inks however I find most yellow inks inpractical and illigible. Montblanc Golden Yellow isn't one of them. It's nicely saturated joyous ink, rather easy to read even in weak light. If like me you enjoy wet and "fat" nibs and warm colors you should enjoy this one.

Thank you for your always perfect review. This is an ink I am glad to see you review because altho I liked it enough to order a second bottle after the first arrived, the initial comments offered here were certainly dismissive. It is nice to see that someone else appreciates this ink. I have kept it in a Visconti 1.3 stub nib since acquisition & believe it may just keep getting refilled. It is especially nice when it pools from a gushing nib or is used after a"few days." It is surely the nicest "gold" ink I have tried.

The MB boutique in Dallas has never gotten a single bottle of this, and it's already sold out almost everywhere else. Look for a surprise in a related color later this year.

Thanks for the review. I was debating getting this one or not, but after seeing your review I will get a bottle.

Very cheery, and close to Rohrer & Klingner Helianthus, perhaps a bit more saturated and a bit less shading than R&K's beautiful ink - though a lot depends on other variables with this sort of colour.

Wonderful review! I like this color and may consider it when I need another yellow.

I love the colour, but my bottle was not very full when I got it. :(

LOVE this Yellow... Thanks for the review VIs.

I compare it side by side to Sheaffer's Kings Gold and with the right pen, it is extremely close.

I'm also glad you reviewed this Montblanc LE. It's the only yellow/gold I own and I liked it enough to buy two bottles. I keep my Visconti Homo Sapiens Bronze inked with it and the 1.3 Stub nib really shows it off. Excellent review, as usual, Vis!

Wow, that would be interesting. On my screen it seems to look a bit more orange. Is that also your impression?

Thank you so much for this! I have a loaner pen that's fitted with a Sheaffer King's Gold cartridge. I love that colour. This MB ink looks like a great alternative.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
