Colors To Al Star & Safari 2017

I suppose most people already knew the Terracotta Safari had been done, yes? I doubt they'll re-issue it :( Maybe a shade lighter more Saffron hinting towards Orange? Something between the two below, but please more matte colours.

I'd like to see a matte finished, white safari with black clip and black nib

Chocolate was made last year as a co-branding item with the clips ornaments.

It might be possible that that same chocolate color might become standard production with a chocolate brown ink.

I would like to see the teal that was a previous production become standard, I also would like to see a very light cool pink, like baby pink and the baby blue that was used with the red clip as a limited edition a long time ago.

I would love it if the Al-Star had light, pastel pearlized colors like warm blush pink, light pink, light blue, light purple to give the same feeling as the teal green Al-Star

More and more people are journaling, having nice looking writing instruments with matching journals would be a welcomed addition.

I'm a sucker for dark, intense colors... an AL-Star with a really dark green, burgundy, or navy blue color, with black nib/clip, would definitely get me.

How about a pale yellow-green in a matte finish with black furnishings or an all white pearlescent with a matte palladium trim. Personally, I still like the niobium or palladium idea for the Al-Star. It would probably cost to much to manufacture however.

One of the recurring requests here is black furnishings and matte texture. I think there is simply too little matte texture Safari ... In fact, there is only one regularly available colour, the Charcoal Black.

I'm not so sure a baby-vomit-yellow would be a very big seller, no matter how you try to dress up the name. :-/

But I love the black furniture.

Well that is a lovely word picture! LOL! But actually, I had a subtle soft chartreuse in mind since Lamy seems to be on a "green" kick the last few years. But, who knows, with a name like "Baby Puke", young people might buy it.

Whatever it is make it MATTE...

I'd like to see a matte cobalt, black finishing....or a matte metallic (oxymoron, maybe? Idk, but I can see it in my head, lol), preferably silver with brushed steel clip :)

Ditto for the matte cobalt, black clip and nib for the Safari. For the Al-Star, I'd like a nice Merlot. And forget the matching ink, just get a matching wine.

I ended up discarding my matte charcoal Safari. I found the texture abrasive on the supporting middle finger when writing with the pen. I'm not saying it rubbed the skin raw, but when I compared the matte Safari to a smooth Safari, the matte was tangibly less comfortable to use because of its texture. Fix that issue (a satin finish section underside perhaps) and I could be convinced to try another matte Safari.

I'd love to see something that looks like a peacock in the sun on an Al Star (I like the colors of many Safaris, but not the plastic they're made with). You know, like the blue/green/purple of Chameleon paint for cars? Something that changes with the angle you're looking at it from.

Tinted Vistas - like maybe a lightly tinted greenish/blue (think old Coke bottle). Or deeper green and brown colors (beer bottles :-)

I recently picked up a Lamy on Amazon that is the fine nib. Matte black, all black furniture. I didn't realize they had interchangeable nibs, so I ordered a 2nd one in a medium.

I have the medium at work, I enjoy the way it feels and writes. I have the Lamy black cartridge in it; plan on rinsing and changing to a different color once it runs out. The fine tipped one I have the Lamy blue cartridge in. I rather enjoy this one as well, the blue is nicely colored and covers well.post-132566-0-14969600-1478645719_thumb.jpgpost-132566-0-29710900-1478645696_thumb.jpg

The pen, is truly mightier than the sword!

I'm also thinking green for the Al-Star. A basic green like the ocean blue and special edition Ruby red.

A light purple Safari perhaps.

I have the matte Black and the matte Dark Lilac. Love them and use them more than any of my Al-Stars. I also use cartridges like you do and simply use an ink syringe to refill them. One is inked with Lamy Dark Lilac and the other with Montblanc Toffee Brown. Great pens. For some reason I use them more often than any of my more expensive GvFC, Montblanc, Sheaffer, or Visconti pens. Edited by 888007888

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
