Can you please tell me what size nibs the Ranga pens from the recent group buy take? I want to order some flex nibs, but I don't know which size to order. Also, if it makes a difference, I think I ordered my Ranga pen with a Schmidt fine screw on nib. I don't know if I need something else to be able to use flex nibs on the pen I ordered.

If it won't work, do you know what other brands/models of pens these nibs work for? I have a whole lotta cheap Chinese pens (Jinhaos, Heroes, No-names, etc.), several Esterbrooks and Scheaffers, a couple of Lamys, 3 Watermans, 3 Parkers, a Yard O Led, a Pilot or 2, a couple of cheap/free Noodler's, and some custom pens. Would the nibs work on any of those?

Ranga Group Buy had two options ... one was 35 mm nib and 40 mm... however I beleive you opted for 35 mm #6 Schmidt Nib....

Flex nibs on those pen will 35mm only...

35mm nib is equivalent of #6 nibs.. so they will fit jinhaos... alomost most of the Indian Pens... Noodlers also use the same size of nibs...

Question for the people who have experience with the FLEX nibs.

How Flexy are they?.. Are they better/worse or the same as the Noodlers Flex nibs ?

Thanks,

They are slightly flexier than the Noodler's nibs. My main issue with them was how to get them far enough into the section that the cap would screw on without interfering with the nib. (on Click bamboo model pens). The answer was to persevere and push them far enough in until you could feel the nib no longer touched the inside of the cap when closing the pen.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
