I have liked the M2 better than the J series, enough to have bought a dozen of the old ones, including a couple of NOS M2s. These new ones actually looked good. I am not so sure about the converter, but I wonder if the converter would fit a Phaeton. I like the yellow color. I agree they are getting warmer, if the pen writes decently.

I can't help but think that the converter looks strikingly similar to the one in the Noodler's pens (Ahab, Konrad, etc).

The first words out of my mouth were, "What the h***?" I can't believe this train wreck is still going on. The newest pens the "Technograph" look equally as hideous.

So I guess you guys won't be carrying them then?

Joking. I'm going to duck now before something gets thrown at me...

Banned by good taste, probably.

Has anybody actually tried one of the new M2s? They do look more like an Esterbrook. The filler looks suspiciously like a Noodler's Ahab. Could Nathan Tardif have played a role here?

No way Nathan played any role. These parts can be bought by anyone wishing to purchase them. I honestly don't know how this looks anything like an Esterbrook M2. The whole idea behind the M2 was that it had the aerometric style filling unit. Yet again, the new company couldn't even get that right. If they're going to use old style names and model numbers, at least try to get them correct. 1960's Esterbrook stuff looked like (bleep), but still looked better than this, in my opinion.

I know there is no shortage of things to hate about the pens and the new company (and this is coming from someone whose content was stolen early on,) but I still find most hilarious the fact that they are completely unable to have two dates consistent for when any of their products are going to launch.

PS: I also wonder how many of those godawful150 L.E. Lincoln pens they have sold. Dayum.

Don't feel bad. I'm old; I'm meh about most things.

At least with the new "Technograph" they aren't claiming it is supposed to look like any previous model. It's still hideously ugly, but I'm not let down because it doesn't look like any particular model. What next a Phaeton 300?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
