Thanks for the review. I also had a relatively crappy week. Including having to pick up a bunch of nails from the bottom end of my driveway. And the sidewalk, *and* even the middle of the street. Probably courtesy of the [expletive deleted] owner of the suburban assault vehicle that's been parked illegally for most of the past month across the street in such a way I had trouble backing down my driveway without hitting it (and no, you getting evicted from your apartment is NOT because of me -- but the two tickets on your windshield? Yeah, that's a fair cop....)

My politics and Mr. T's are clearly different, but I've been amused by the responses to the tongue-in-cheek review. I'm guessing that Cyber6's comments should *really* have read "bled like a stuck capitalist pig"....

I'd be interested in seeing a comparison between this ink and Park Red, which also dries pretty quickly. Because I'm not a big fan of red inks and already have Noodler's Park Red (which is really well behaved, even though it's not my favorite red ink for color).

@ Mike Schutz: 'm a registered Republican who is seriously considering voting for Mr. S. (well, in the primary I'm going to vote my conscience and do a write-in for the only *reasonable* one in the pack -- George Patacki; and yes I DO know he's out of the race...). So does that rate me a condolence card or not?

@jmccarty3: Good to know that you have NOT gotten an all-expenses paid trip to the Eastern Steppes.... And the knock on the door was merely hotel key ladies and war widows sweeping snow off your sidewalk.... ;)

The bleedthrough was on the Hammermill inkjet paper.

No bleedthrough on Tomoe River, or the Mohawk via Linen.

And yes some feathering on the inkjet paper, none on the Mohawk via Linen or Tomoe River.

This ink is very different than Park Red, which I find to be a fairly chalky red. The Berning Red so far is not like that. It's a much more pure red, leaning towards orange, but I wouldn't call it an orange-red or even a red-orange.

Thank you for the sample. I have really enjoyed this ink. I will use it all up and probably buy a bottle. As always, your reviews are helpful and informative.

You've turned me on to a couple of reds, considering you aren't a huge red user, I must compliment your taste.

Very nice review. I think I might join the communist regime and buy myself a bottle after hearing such good things about it. Heck, even if it wasn't a very good ink I might have bought it just for the novelty of the bottle's label. Say what you may about Tardiff, he certainly has a sense of humor.

Ah, thanks. But sometimes I just get lucky.

While I have a bottle of Noodler's ink and am generally happy with the performance, I feel that it's one thing to have political beliefs, another to profess it openly in products meant for the public. Perhaps political "jokes" are accepted better among the general public in the USA. As someone who lives here only temporarily, I cannot help but to wonder.

Nice colour and performance, but I'll pass on this one, just as I passed on "Liberty's Elysium". Making fun of people by product names(politician or not) doesn't amuse me so much, nor does promoting certain chauvinistic/nationalistic emotions.

That's been my experience, too. It feathers so much I can only use it on either Tomoe or Steno paper, but only in a VERY dry pen.

Personally I didn't care for the political rant that came with this ink, but I liked the novelty of Bernie having his own ink, so I made sure to sign my ballot for Nathan's nemesis with this ink.

My boss and I got a good laugh out of the label :D , but I shan't buy the ink. I've already a perfect red in Diamine Poppy Red.

I find the label hilarious, it's so over the top...almost makes me wish I was a Bernie supporter so I could buy it ironically.

On the other hand, I really like reds and a quick-drying ink would be great for Hebrew...

Akkerman, Montblanc, and Iroshizuku may have the prettiest bottles, but Noodler's has no competition for the craziest labels and best back stories.

Sorry to bump a somewhat old thread, but it is still available if you look. I just got the last bottle from PenBoutique.com and another bottle from Passion4Pens.com. The latter should have one last bottle left.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
