Pentrace announces our 2016 Numbered Edition fountain pen.

Considering the many requests and detailed specifications from our readers we are pleased to announce that the 2016 Numbered Edition fountain pen will be available shortly.

We have listened to your comments and suggestions as to design and function details.

Here are a few hints as to the final concept.

Well made by notable pen manufacturer in Italy with reputation for high quality production.

Traditional Pentrace green in a shimmering mother of pearl green similar to our 2004 Limited Edition.

Comfortable size for any hand, not too big and not too small. Comfortable unposted and great balance with cap posted. Flat top design inspired by vintage pens of the Golden Age.

No metal trim rings on section, comfortable minimum “step” from barrel to section.

High quality Harmonic steel nib specially shaped for flexible and controlled response from Fine to Medium and even to a Broad line with minimal effort. Unique design nib and feed facilitates for a consistent ink flow with line widths typically from 1.0mm to 1.5mm.

Filling mechanism will be piston filler.
Packaged in modest but attractive gift box with newpentrace.net decoration.

Pricing will be “comfortably” below $200.00

$50.00 deposit required, balance when ready for shipment.

This will be a Numbered Edition by subscription only. We will be taking pre-production orders. Note that production will be strictly limited to the quantity of pre-production orders received. This means…if you like it, place your order as it will not be available again after Numbered Edition production.

Orders may be taken from U.S. and International readers and is not limited to Pentrace readers. This may be ordered by anyone who would appreciate a high quality Italian-made fountain pen that is designed by very picky popular choice from serious fountain pen users.

A final prototype is being produced as we speak and will be posted as soon as available.
You will be able to see high quality images to inspect every detail, a written review of performance and actual writing examples to demonstrate a most unique and remarkably responsive nib.

The specific time limit to place orders will be announced at the time images and review is placed on the Pentrace Message Board.

Be sure to have shipment to an address location where someone will be able to sign for delivery.

You may choose a specific number for the fountain pen otherwise numbers are assigned as orders are received.

Chosen numbers are subject to being available within the total quantity ordered. If total quantity is less than your number chosen the next available number would be assigned to your order.

There is no nib designation for Fine - Medium - Broad.

Due to the unique style of the steel nib this fountain pen will speak in Fine, Medium or Broad or in a controllable flex, thus the most unique character of this pen.

Deposit is refundable up to time of placing order for production.

Two questions: Do you have a more specific date for placing the order? And when will the specific price be known?

 

I'm one of those people on a limited budget (I'm sure I am the only one :lticaptd: :lticaptd:), which may or may not allow me to participate in the purchase.

We are taking pre-orders now. The following serial numbers have already been taken:

The sale shall remain open for a yet undefined period (we guess about 30 days, but this may change). The price will be announced soon: we are still waiting for some data from Italy, plus exact shipping and duty charges. Our goal is to offer it well below $200, ideally around $150-160.

Congratulation for this limited edition Giovanni.

 

It's a honor and a great satisfaction for me being the designer of this pen and that nib: is a variant of the Marlen Aleph (Aleph is the name of my first son) that has been the third fountainpen.it pen (2012 edition).

This pen does have a resemblance to the Aleph, especially the nib and transparent feed, and if writes like the Aleph then it's a worthwhile buy.

 

I suppose it also uses a "captured converter" too, just like the Aleph and most other "piston filler" Marlens?

It has some commonality with the Aleph, with changes made by Pentrace. As for the type of piston, I have not taken one apart. It feels much more substantial than a converter and it is quite reliable in the standard Aleph.
