Lamy 2000 Knockoff

Recommended Posts

A couple of years ago there were posts about a knockoff Lamy 2000 demonstrator from China. There is also this Reddit discussion: https://www.reddit.com/r/fountainpens/comments/3c9edt/red_and_blue_lamy_2000s_chinese_knock_off_or/

I am curious if anyone ever tracked them down.

Very interesting... I've seen a Lamy 2000 knockoff, the clip was wrong.. but the material (makrolon?) was quite accurate.

The orange looks cool.. :D

I remember seeing those pictures a while back and thinking they looked very cool. That first one reminds me of an old Apple eMate. In the best possible way. :)

I know it's already been talked about, and I'm sure if it made any kind of business sense they'd already be doing it, but I'd love to see Lamy do a special edition 2000 each year. A brown 2000? Or blue? Or red? But especially brown? I'd be in heaven.

I've got the blue one. I like it a lot. The nib isn't anything like a Lamy nib--it's a pretty standard Chinese Fine--and the measurements of the body are slightly different. But it's super cool-looking, and very comfortable to hold, and even though the nib isn't actively fun the way the real Lamy one is, it's practical and I like it.

I actually would not have bought my Lamy 2000 if I hadn't bought the knockoff first--it's what convinced me I wanted one.

Currently in rotation: Wing Sung 698/Diamine Blue Velvet, Wing Sung 618/Diamine Golden Oasis, Lamy Profil 80/Pelikan Edelstein Aventurine

Two questions: how did you get it, and you are in NYC?

how did you get it ...

Yes, my question as well. The site is in Chinese and the pen is ≠$41 USD. Shipping seems to be ≠$14 USD for the first kilogram.

The above through the magic of google translate.

I got it through a purchasing agent for TaoBao called Mister Tao, which was linked on a thread here. I think I paid a little over $50 total.

Yes, I'm in NYC and I saw you at the club meeting the other night. You adjusted my Wing Sung 659.

its the same guy who made wood bindes for the M800 if not the M1000 the L2K parts are actually printed so not exactly macrolon, as far as I know the person also makes Hero 611 piston filler parts

Yes, I don't think it was makrolon.... but unless you put them side by side (if you are no expert).. they look/feel quite the same. I remember the clip being wrong thou.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
