Sourcing A Sailor Pro Gear Morita Robin's Egg Blue

Susan3141

Recommended Posts

The Morita Store in Osaka has a special color Sailor Pro Gear (and other models) in a gorgeous robin egg blue. They do not ship outside of Japan. An FPNer just posted on Facebook how she ordered two of these pens on the Japanese site, had them sent to a shipping site in Japan that sent them to the US. That sounds really difficult to me.

Does anyone know an easier way to source one of these gorgeous pens?

Thanks,

Susan

I can't stop buying pens and it scares me.

You can use a Japanese shopping service, where they do the shopping for you, and ship you the item.

I've used personalshopperj.com with good results.

For a long time the way to order from Japan was through a service. Don't know if you FB person used a service or a friend, but perhaps she would tell you, ay?

Here's some posts on how to buy through a service:

There used to be a very detailed post on how to use one of these services. Check out posts by AltecGreen, especially.

You might ask these eBay vendors if they can source it for you: engeika or cool-japan. be sure to send them a link to the pen.

P.S. Sometimes there's no easy, soft way to buy the pen you want. Sometimes that's a good thing!

If the vendor does not ship outside of Japan, then you have no choice but to use a third party whether it is a service or a friend. Rakuten will not help you here if the vendor is unwilling to ship.

A friend is the cheapest option since there is a cost to using some of the services.

Neat. They have the pro gear mini in that color also.

I'm currently trying out zenmarket because a member posted it as a recommendation. I'll need to see what their estimate is before I buy.

Alas, I have no friends in Japan.

Sigh.

It's not too bad as long as you have a CC or ability to transfer funding to a online JPN store.via proxy.

I have his pen and used a Japanese shipping service to get it recently. It's fantastic looking and the nib is great. But I am looking to sell it. Primarily because I have huge hands and I don't like posting caps so it just isn't comfortable for me. I've inked it twice and would be happy to sell at a discount to find it a good home. Let me know if you're interested.

Have you tried Enjeika Pens? I purchased a Sailor Prof. Gear Slim Manyou in dark green metallic from them a month ago.

Hi, I am looking for the pen " Sailor PG 21k Morita blue" and living in US now. I am interested in your pen. Would you contact me and let me know how much are you going to sell? We may figure out how to work on it.

A friend is indeed the cheapest route, but a forwarding service is the next best thing (not to be confused with a shopping/buying service). Here's what I recently wrote about it to a fellow FPN member via private message:

[...}

I get around all this with friends and family in Japan. I also use White Rabbit's services. The Buying Service they offer can get a little pricey (they handing the entire buying process), but I only use their Forwarding Service. I can order inks well enough on my own and the packages are sent to White Rabbit in Japan. then, White Rabbit forwards it to me. There is still a service fee to receiving packages on my behalf and shipping it to me, but it's loads cheaper than having them handle the entire ordering process for me.

[...}

Hope that helps. :)

Sailor Pro Gear Morita is a shop exclusive pen (much like shop exclusive inks). Engeika will not have it.

^ Perhaps!

Though my experience with them has proven otherwise, but that was so long ago--things change.

I have a Morita Robin's Egg Blue Sailor Pro Gear, 14k with fine nib that was tuned by Mr. Nagahara of Sailor at the DC pen show a couple of years ago. I'd be willing to part with it if anyone is interested. Cell phone picture attached.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
