They are Parker 45's which were a good solid work horse pen. Are they special? Collection wise probably not unless they are pristine condition, but for a good working daily writer that will work for another 50 years or more ... yes.

There are Parker 45's that are more 'special' than these. However, at least these have chrome caps. The question is do they have gold or steel nibs? Maybe you won't know until you unscrew the nib and feed off the section.

If you get both of them for €25 shipped that's not a bad price

These are nowhere near the Parker 51s but are good sturdy pens and as others have said would last for decades especially the flighter (steel bodied) ones. There are lot of versions of the P45s. These also came with gold nibs.

Enjoy your Parker pens.

I would ask if I could only buy 1 of them, and yeah, it's in my town so there wouldnt even be any shipping, I would meet with the person. Thanks ! :)

I'll just agree with the others, that the Parker 45 is an excellent workhorse pen - I have several of them, with medium, fine and extra-fine nibs. And €25 for two in working order is a very good price (considering they have the ink converters included).

As for gold or steel nibs, I have both and I'd say the steel nibs are every bit as good as the gold ones - there's no flex in mine, and no advantage to gold.

One good thing about the 45 is that the nib unit unscrews if you just hold the black plastic surround and turn it, which makes it very easy to clean out the pen. One of my 45s was badly clogged when I got it, but unscrewing the nib and giving the parts plenty of soaking (including a couple of short soaks in diluted ammonia) left it cleaned out and working nicely.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
