Just what the title says, I have a 388 that I really like (good weight, good cap action, smooth flow), but the line is really thick. I'd like to go with a diner nib, but am not sure as to the size. It looks like a 5 or 5.5. Am I on the mark?

There is a nice review of the Baoer 388. Based on the photographs and my limited history with Baoer and Jinhao pens of the same size, it looks like a #5 nib. However, this thread suggests that a #5 may be to large, which is strange. Either way, you may have to experiment.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning.
