Tekker Customizable Inks...

Has anyone tried Tekker Inks? They sell custom-made inks of any color of your choosing. Their online store allows you to select a color from a digital palette and will ship that color in a 100mL bottle for $11.25. They are advertised as safe for all modern and vintage pens. Very interesting...

It looks intriguing but they're a little TOO minimalist for me at the moment - no links, no info, nothing. I've sent them an email asking about those things and will be interested to hear what they have to say. Love the idea.

Hey guys!

I'm so very sorry -- the thing is, we haven't launched yet. You caught us a bit early! We're thinking of starting up around mid-late February, and we haven't built the entire website yet. Currently we're sending out bottles to ink reviewers and such, to get a bit of publicity. I'm just curious, how did you find the website?

In case you wanted any ink, you can still email us with a hex code at the moment. If you're worried about it being sketchy, I'd be happy to take pictures of the ink before any payment or transaction goes down for your peace of mind.

Thank you for checking us out!

Hi this sounds quite promising.

I do have questions around non-color attributes like sheen, water proofness, flow quality (viscosity and surface tension), whether the ink smudges, dry time, how does the ink behave (feather and bleed on rhodia paper for example with a juicy nib).

Hi, I found your website through Youtube. You posted a video 15 hours ago, which intrigued me, and so I looked you up from there.

Please keep us informed. Now what was that hex code for Parker Penman Sapphire?

For the ink properties, it's low sheen, water-resistant, fast dry time, and doesn't feather on medium-tier to good paper, even with a juicy nib. Flow quality is good (medium flow), and we're planning on adding customizability to that too (high flow/high feather on bad paper vs low feather/low flow). Shading is medium.

Anyways, I thought you guys might like some of our latest pictures:

Of course that is to the forefront of our minds. Although the Horizon Blue in the photo seems to be a good start.

Thanks for the info, it certainly helps.

Although if there'd be a knob for sheen, I'd crank it up to the max and go for the blackest black hex code 0xFFFFFF (and some more FF's if needed). That'd be my very first order.

This peaks my curiosity. Looks like I need to find some hex codes to experiment with haha.

Haha, thanks for all your support! Horizon blue was actually a hex code one of our first customers extracted from a picture he took himself. Other cool ideas we're about to implement include color palettes from paintings, pictures, etc.

Anyways, if you guys are interested in ordering any inks, we can mix them up this moment. We just wanted to wait until after reviews of our ink online came out before broadcasting it to everybody :)

P.S. About the white -- white is just transparent, because the more transparent your ink is, the more the white of the page shows.

I had my request for info satisfied and have ordered two bottles to try. Should be fun. I'll post something once I've tried the ink. Thanks Preston.

I'd love to hear more about your ink-making experience. Have inks been tested over time for issues such as mold and clogging pens, for example?

I am not (definitely not) trying to be a naysayer. Inks are more than just pretty colors, though.

Definitely a valid concern. I've personally used (and supplied) my friends with ink for the past year in pens from a Waterman 52V to a Visconti Van Gogh. I haven't had clogging or any type of degradation in my pens. I've also tested just soaking pens / sacs / gold-plated nibs in the ink for months at a time, and nothing changed at all.

Also, to stonezebra: your inks will be shipped out Monday :) The label printer color was kind of off, but you can see how the ink matches the desired color.

An interesting concept - something that comes into my mind is that you can try "resurrecting" currently discontinued inks of other companies (e.g. the Montblancs, Sailors, Penmans, old CDA etc.) by "reverse engineering" them, much like how Tardif made Borealis black from Aurora black or Dark matter from the Los Alamos ink. Of course, there may be difficulties in obtaining suitable dyes (Some of the inks were probably discontinued due to the dyes) and thus non-color behavior such as sheen may be hard to replicate, but this does open quite a lot of possibilities.
So more PPS, please?

As for white & transparent, white ink does exist (I'm thinking of Noodler's whiteness of the whale). I imagine that using a transparent solution would dilute colors instead of making them lighter.

Visvamitra reviews are an invaluable source of hex codes.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
