What You Guys Write?

Can you believe that cursive is no longer taught in elementary schools. Kaput, discontinued! ....

This is only true in some. Many many schools still teach connected writing at the elementary level, as they do in mine where I am a teacher. Don't believe all the panicky reactionary info that you read on the web or in the news. Teaching connected writing is still a widespread practice. Just not monolithically so as it was in the past.

Ladies, Gentlemen too...

We all have our thoughts, be they positive or negative about the disappearance of forms of hand-writing.

But discussing those quickly venture into the realm of politics, or result in angry remarks and as you all know, that is a banned topic here on the forum.

So let us all go back to the main topic.

Thank you

I write journals... of which i have plenty.

I write letters in the present addressed to my daughter when she becomes my age so that we may meet each other and "talk" to each other.

I write my thoughts and things i ponder about.

I write about what bothers me in my daily life and what i do to carry on, or to solve said situation.

I write to do lists..

i write letters to family and friends, instead of sending those to them i send them the scans... its a modern way of keeping on with an "old" practice.

Everything i do in my job i write it.. whether it may be to do lists, comments about a sales presentation, notes on purchasing of items

I write my talking points to the mother of my daughter as to not get carried away when talking to her.

I write her answers to my discussion points.

I write before talking to another colegue, to make sure i cover all the needed information.

In short, you can write about absolutely everything in daily life... you just have to do it!

Oh, and i have a notebook where i practice my caligraphy.

Years ago I spent a few years traveling for work and got into the habit of writing long letters home.

I don't travel much anymore, so the pens see use in much more mundane, daily tasks such as shopping lists, to-do lists and notes to myself.

My pens probably trade stories about the good-old-days when I'm not in the room since they see, probably, 1/10 the action they used to.

I write almost everything with FPs, a little pencil and dip pen drawing.

Everyday journal and action board notebook.

Letters short and long.

Postcards (lots)

Note cards

Poems, Stories. Memoirs.

Reminders to self

Shopping and To Do in addition to action board stuff.

Notes before important phone calls.

lots of FPs and different colored INKS!

Excellent!

I think mine breed.

There certainly seems to be more of them every year!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
