Montblanc 246 G

I have a Danish Montblanc 256 G which needs a new cork; but I can't figure out how it comes apart and I don't want to do anything destructive. Has anyone any thoughts?

You could send it back to MB in your country. Or you could send it to Italy for a repair. There are top guys that will repair that. You could do it yourself, however, unless you can cut the cork, seal the cork and fit it in without stressing the barrel. I would probably get someone to repair it. I sent three back for corks before I started doing it, and its not that bad, but getting the tractor out is the easy part.

 

There are some top MB techs on here that will be happy to fix it.

I've had a good experience visiting the Mont Blanc repair centre in Mississauga - which appears to be a two-hour drive from Chatsworth :\. But if you're in the area, a visit to the shop will save you postage.

Hi Crairett, may i suggest you re-post in the Montblanc forum. There are some wizards in there who are very generous with advice, but may not see your post here.

You don't know what you need until you realise you haven't got it.

Hi Graig,

Your pen does not have a cork seal, but a nylon cup seal.

These seals are normally very wear resistant, so I don't expect the seal is defective.

However contamination crusted ink particles could settle between the sealing lip and cause leakage.

So it could be necessary to take the piston unit out , clean the barrel and seal lightly grade the seal with silicone grease

The complete piston unit can be screwed out from the back.

Between the filling knob and the barrel is a small riffled ring .

After opening the filling knob completely- and using a dedicated set of pinchers - one should grip on the narrow riffled ring to screw the filler unit out, turning counter clock wise.
