Sources For Unused Us Postage Stamps At Face Value?

Several years ago I learned about a source for old unused US postage stamps through a post somebody made here on FPN. At that time - in order to purchase stamps - you sent this gentleman an email with your request. He replied with info about what he had available. Then you sent him a check for the face value of stamps you wanted and received your stamps a few days later. I ordered from him several times and was always pleased with the stamps and the service.

Unfortunately, I can't remember his name and lost his email address in a computer crash - back before the days of iCloud. I think he was in California, but I'm not sure.

Do any of you know who I'm talking about? Or do you know of any other sources for old stamps sold at face value?

So many pens, so little time!

I suspect you mean Errol Murphy - 'Murph'. He used to live in CA but recently moved to TX. His email address is now elmurphy88@icloud.com and he is still selling stamps. I'll send you his address via PM.

I purchased vintage stamps from Alan Blair. He made of packages of 6, 10 and 33 cent stamps which combined make the current U.S. postage of $0.49. He sold me $49 face value stamps for $39.95. http://Buy-Stamps-Resource.com Highly recommended.

Thanks, stonezebra! Murphy is the man I used to order from.

OCArt, thanks for letting me know about Mr. Blair, too!

My inquiry is about a current stamp at the moment. The US .10¢ Pears stamp. I want it! but it only comes in a 10,000 qty coil. $1,000. Uhg!

How realistic is it to find others who want to go in on this to purchase a coil? Haven't even thought about the logistics yet. Paypal to one person? That person then post mail out to each participant? 20 people spending $50 for 500 stamps?

Does anyone have some I can purchase at FV? I have to get my hands on this stamp, not sure I want to purchase from Etsy or ebay. Yes, I'm pretty nuts about FV postage stamps. :P

I checked and you may be able to buy them from the Post Office in quantities of 500. They are reputedly not listed in the Post Office catalogue that way, but if you call in you supposedly can request this. $50.00 is not great, but certainly doable.

The post offices by me leave quite a bit to be desired on that score but I will try it. Thank you.

The Pears stamp is going to be issued in panes (sheets) of 20 in another month (issued March 23 in Cleveland, Ohio), so if you can hold out for a bit you can get a more reasonable quantity at face value. You may or may not be able to get them at your local post office, but you will be able to order them online. If you like this style there is also a 5 cent grapes stamp (also a coil) that will be issued I think this weekend in sheet form, and there is also a 1 cent apples stamp.

If you can't wait, I have a little bit of scrap from a coil I can provide...

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
