Good morning peeps! Does anyone want to have a meet up? I could go if people are feeling it. I'm not babysitting my dad this weekend, so I'm free to go for brunch, and it is the third Saturday of the month.

11:30, at The Fox & The Fiddle (280 Bloor Street West).

Anyone want to meet up?

Well, even if it's just you and me, let's meet for brunch. I'll bring you your SPP. :) Be warned, it's expensive. I paid $50 USD for the bottle!

My SPP?? I think you are confusing me with someone else?... What is SPP ?

(PPS = Parker Penman Sapphire)

Just saw this posting now (Jan 22). I am assuming you were posting about a meeting last week . However if you plan another one let me know - I am very interested in meeting other FP collectors in Toronto. I am fairly new to collecting - about a year and a half - and want to pick brains to learn as much as I can. One of my fav pens in my collection is this 1920's Conway Stewart that I purchased last year at a vintage pen show.post-127722-0-60921200-1453499454_thumb.jpg

  • 3 weeks later...

If you guys want to do a meet up in TO sometime in the near future, I'd be really interested. I'm new to the fountain pen "movement" and it would be good to knock heads with people of like interests. :)

Pens & Pints meets the first Friday of the month (6pm - 9pm) every month.

Sometimes we do re-schedule. This month (MARCH) we had two Pens&Pints.

We hosted Ken Cavers on March 11 (Was so much fun!!) and our regulars Pens&Pints will be held tonight March 18.

We are meeting at the Union Social Eatery @Yonge-Sheppard. Everyone is welcome to drop by.. is good to have an idea of numbers so we can reserve a bigger table, so please leave a message here if you are planning to come.

So sorry, I can't make it. I thought it was on Saturdays for some reason. I'm from Massachusetts and get to Toronto every couple of months. I haven't synchronized with your meetings yet, but I'm looking forward to it.

Larry, you are right. The Toronto Pen Posse meets the third Saturday of the Month (with exceptions)... The Pens & Pints meets the first Friday of the Month.

So you have two opportunities. ;)

Interesting, do both have the same people attend or is there Toronto Pen Feud going on? Should I bring my Parker 45 for protection?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
