Levenger L-Tech On Ridiculous Deal At Massdrop

Hey everybody. Remember this pen?

http://i.ebayimg.com/images/i/161001022740-0-1/s-l1000.jpg

Rotring don't make it anymore. Sadness.

But Levenger DOES make this pen,

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51B3UyClq7L._SY355_.jpg

And this pen,

kind of in honor of the six-sided forefounder. (The L-tech has 7 sides. Whatever.) I should know. I just bought one from Levenger, "on sale" for $86 shipped.

Massdrop just made me a jerk, because, at the lowest price, that will be $62 shipped. So that's maybe a good deal? Especially with an MSRP of $99?

Anyway, if this is your thing, get it while it's hot... https://www.massdrop.com/buy/levenger-l-tech-3-0-fountain-pen

Who knows, I may just buy myself another...

Thanks for the heads-up. I have the rOtring 600 in both black and dull silver and like the pen very much. (It is a bit heavy and definitely not a pen to post.) I like Levenger's "stealth" version, very slick. It would be interesting for someone who has both to compare them.

Those are awesome! They're actually slightly gray or green ("Excalibur" or "Moss"); the chrome & stealth ones are on sale for $80. But $40 is a sweet deal...

Here is a picture of both Ltech and Rotring. The weight is similar, the Ltech is aluminum and the Rotring is brass. The Ltech is bigger overall and bigger around. Clip cap on the rotring and a threaded cap on the Ltech.

Thanks for the clarification. I was going off of what the top of the page said and did not look at the color options.

Thanks, Pakman. (And thanks for not saying "actually.")

The cap on the rOtring (I love doing that) is a minor hassle, requiring the facets to line up before it will close securely. A threaded cap is simpler. Some have complained that the knurled section is uncomfortable, causing me to wonder about the grip (or fragility) of the user. I haven't found it to be even remotely so; in fact, it feels great.

So, might I predict that the Silver and Moss colors of the L-Tech are being discontinued? If I wasn't low on funds, I might pick one up.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
