I am enjoying the recently arrived Kaweco 14KT nib in a double broad from FONTOPLUMO in my Kaweco Art Sport (Tortoise/Amber.) It really is a nice nib & with a special "Birthday Discount" (10%) voucher which was a surprise from FONTOPLUMO it doesn't seem as expensive as it did prior to purchase. It is surprising how much broader the nib writes compared to the Steel BB's I have in my other Sports. I will enjoy seeing this in the Brass Sport as well after it has a turn in this Art Sport!

With the deletion of VAT & EXTREMELY reasonable shipping offered from FONTOPLUMO this was a VERY nice Birthday treat.

Possibly OT, but not meant maliciously:

I have not touched a pen all day, an don't plan to either. I'm taking a day off and avoiding scribbling anything at all on paper, with anything at all today. Quite a nice feeling, in fact.

A Rotring 700 fine full of Diamine: I've been neglecting a bit of late with trying new acquisitions and rotating old ones, so that's all I'm using today.

NONE whatsoever! This package sailed thru without a hitch & I am fully aware of what a customs delay can be as I had a Delta pen languish in customs for want of the "ink certificate" that took all the "kings horses & men" from DSL to convince the customs agent that it was an UNFILLED new pen & didn't therefore require the certificate. AND I have received other pens from Italy & Germany without a problem so this DSL shipped pen was my first Customs experienced delay & one I will remember for awhile.

I continue to be happy with this Kaweco nib. I don't dislike the steel nibs but this one is a pleasure.

+1 to what Fred said. Especially that Duofold -- love the color.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
