As always, Liz, your writing is exquisitely beautiful though, on this occasion, my attention has been caught by the pen pouches. Where did you get them from? I am looking for something like that to keep pens in the front pocket of my man-bag ... oops, erm, I mean shipping-centre-survival-kit, not man-bag -- obviously.

Cheers,

David.

David - I made those pen pouches, I'm afraid.

I wish there were buttons to press "Like" on the posts (as is on Facebook), cause I really like so many of your posts.

Today at work, like so many other days, I use one of my frankenTWSBIs, the vac mini with a Swan nib. Ink: Iroshizuku grey "miscoloured" by KWZI azure blue

If there were a "like" button, I'd "like" your post a hundred times if I could. :D Your flex writing is absolutely gorgeous and full of character, and I really like the blue grey colour. Would definitely buy a bottle if it were available. ;)

Liz, that's just so unfair: one single solitary person with so many talents -- photography, calligraphy, art, and ... and now creative talents too. Please don't tell us that you make Lionel Messi look like a pub footballer -- I would cry!

Those pen pouches are beautiful. I have a single silky pen sleeve, with a sort of Chinese willow pattern, that formed part of the packaging when I bought a custom pen from John Twiss at a pen show. He commissioned a lady that worked in an adjacent studio to make them. Now that I think about it, I could get her contact details from John and ask her to make me a 6 pen pouch, maybe with something sturdy to make it a sort of fabric penvelope like the leather Franklin-Christof penvelope6. I want something to hold about 6 pens in the front pocket of my manb..., erm, shopping-centre-survival-kit. I must go and measure the front pocket of the SCSK.

Cheers,

David.

Today a wonderful, albeit poignant, collection of art started by Nicola Davies was brought to my attention via The Guardian newspaper here in the UK.

Our government recently voted against :( accepting 3000 unaccompanied child refugees from war torn Syria. Nicola wrote a poem about it and asked anyone who wanted, to draw, paint, photograph, whatever, a single chair.

I immediately fully charged my Visconti Homo Sapiens with my favourite sketching ink of the moment, KWZI Hunter Green and set about to contribute.

Here is a detail of the sketch before and after spritzing and the final submitted image.

Desiderata Daedalus with Diamine Ancient Copper:

Gorgeous as always.

I picked up some Chesterfields Antique Copper, which I assume is Diamine Ancient Copper. I love the green edges that show up, especially when I'm using a dip pen. Mine looks a bit browner, not quite as red, but it may just be my monitor. I'm loving the ink, especially with a dip nib on cream paper. Do you like the Desiderata? I've thought about one, and to see if there are any of my other nibs that might fit. I have a couple lying around.

Thanks! It's a very nice pen. Fine nib, and a rather wet one at that.

By the way, just as a side note, I think if I had it to do over, I would get the blue. I had the blue at one point, and it is a very attractive color. You can't really see much of the color of the ink in the clear one anyway, so I think maybe the blue or orange might be more interesting, but obviously that's a subjective matter.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
