Very nice artistic picture...better than in the morning or day time.

And you have the best French fries in the world, any time you want. Double fried in beef tallow. :notworthy1:

In they have finally found out butter is much better for you than margarine, some day they might find out beef tallow is good for you too. Even if not, it's still worth it.

Actually they have found out vegetable oil margarine is bad for you.

The original margarine, the poor man's 'butter', was made out of animal fat. The weird things one can find out writing a western.

<...the Dandoy shop around the corner and their speculoos> Of course, I'm sure you meant "speculaas"? :)

FYI , speculoos is the right word. Speculaas is the Dutch version and is a more spicy cookie that is made with more herbs then speculoos. The taste of speculoos is more cinnemon and caramel .

Very pretty pen indeed; it will be hard to resist this one (especially being a resident of Brussels).

Well, if in Belgium the fries won't kill you, the beer, chocolate and waffles probably will :-)

That is of course the least to expect!

Then again, with the amount of money I spent on their pens, they probably should :-)

There are folks that eat horrible tasting healthy food until they are 92. I'll eat what tastes good to 87. Being happy makes one live longer (chocolate is a chemical to make you happy)....eating that horrible stuff all the time, sure slows time.

It is proven a beer a day is good for your health. So is a glass of wine. The same for a shot of schnapps.

They have done no test of a beer, glass of wine and a schnapps a day. Some one should fund those studies better. :D

I agree. My Piazza Navona stays inked much more than any of my other M6xx's.

This is quite the enabling thread. Can't somebody just say, wait a minute! Stop the madness!

I'm not a fan of swirly resin, but I will have to check the pen out, now. Thanks for nothing! 😐

Could someone change the tittle of this post please ? (it's not "Grand PALACE" but "Grand PLACE").

Should be easier, afterwords, for some researches.

Thanks !

I just picked up the Grand Place at Vanness in Little Rock, Arkansas. They got a supply in yesterday. I got it with a broad nib. The name is strange because on the box it says "Water Soil." Anyway, here it is:

Yes, the box is tagged "Water Soil" and the pen is tagged "Grand Place." The M201 Bayou from FPH was also tagged as "Water Soil" when it was released.

I got an email that it was picked up today by Fed Ex. Expected delivery, 9 Feb. I wish that they had used UPS like Iguana Sell, 2nd day.

Does the broad nib give you any line variation?

I curious because mine (which is in the mail) will also be B nib, and I don't have any Pelikans with Broad nibs to know what to expect.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
