A little more than I really wanted to pay for it, but not much. 9450 nib

http://www.ebay.com/...utorefresh=true

With its arrival that will give me the red SJ, a green J and a black LJ. Will post more upon its arrival. The listing seemed to indicate it may need a new sac.

That looks like a glorious red. With that nib, very well done indeed.

And some are asking way more....

Actually, it's not a bad price, given that it *is* a 9xxx nib.  If you want to try repairing yourself, #16 sacs only cost a couple of bucks and j-bars about $5 US the last time I checked.  There's a thread on Estie repair (which might be pinned) called "How to Replace an Esterbrook Sac" that you should have a look at.  Good luck with your new pen -- but beware.  Esties have this tendency to multiply like tribbles....

I've got one coming with a 9461 nib. I hope I like it as much as you do.

That's a decent price.

Brad,
With ANY used sac pen, I presume that the sac needs to be replaced. Even if the sac holds water, it could be 50+ years old, and ready to fail next week. So if I plan to use the pen, I will replace the sac. I figure, with a new sac, I am safe for the next 10-15 years. If you have the stuff to replace sacs, it is just a $2 sac.

It if is a pen for my collection, I may not replace the sac. I just tag the pen, NR = Not Restored.

Hi guys. Pen arrived today.  Got it home, (I usually have pen and ink type packages delivered to my office) flushed. Green ink. (or maybe green/black) Tried to take the nib out, and it was stuck in there good. How good? Pen came apart at the section. Sac is super pliable. Like new in fact. It took some soaking the nib and section in 10:1 water:ammonia solution before I could get the nib out. Soaked the nib alone good too.

Got it flushed good so water coming out is clear and loaded with Diamine Twilight from a sample. Other than the nib giving a little feedback, it writes terrific.

The color seems to lean towards copper. Tell me what you think. Red or Copper? Because it isn't the color red I was expecting.
