Papier Plume - Oyster Gray . . .

Recommended Posts

I fell for this little sample straight away !

http://www.taskyprianou.com/fpn_papier_plume_oyster_gray_review.jpg

No feathering experienced on any paper I've used it on.

Rhodia (above) dry time was just under 30s on "normal" paper between 5-10s. Clean crisp lines on everything and overall a joy to use.

Really encouraging too that on hearing a few grumbles from me on shipping costs outside the US Papier Plume contacted me to advise that they have reviewed things and made shipping much more reasonable. A company that listens to its customers, not too many of those left.

If you're after a coolish grey with wonderful manners I'd place an order for a bottle. they come in three sizes too. Mine will be a "large". Thank you amberleadavis and TheRealScubaSteve (and all involved) in sending this sample across the pond.

Thank you for the beautiful drawings. I think they are so neat.

This looks like an interesting ink.

Be Happy, work at it. Namaste

You do great work!

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Not bad :)

It's been in my Ahab for five days now. Starts first time every time. Not many inks play that well in my Ahab.

Absolutely love the drawings in the review.

Grey inks are important for us who like to sketch and draw.

My current favorite is OMAS New Grey. But I like this one too.

I wonder where to buy this in US?

Try a small bottle if you like but I'd cut out the middle man and go for the large here. Good luck

Very nice.

I'm still trying to navigate grays, but trust that this will be a choice purchase. The other colors look grand as well! Caramel, Midnight Blue, Moss Green, Pecan--five more inks for me. OoOoOoOh! And they'll blend inks on request too!

Thanks for the heads-up on Papier Plume. Never heard of them until now.

Tas,

Great as always. It certainly looks near identical to your beloved Blue Merle.

If you like lighter/more vibrant blues, the Peacock Blue is a wonderful color. The Moss Green is pretty cool because it changes color. When wet, it's way more yellowish.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
