All of mine. They also each have their own particular ink, I rarely change colours.

I was once a bottle of ink, Inky Dinky Thinky Inky, Blacky Minky Bottle of Ink!

No matter how many pens I have inked, my trusty red Pelikan M205 is always with me. For some time it has been inked with MB Permanent Blue and they truly make a perfect pair!

And always preferred over using the one in the doctor or dentist office that has been handled by (how many?) sick folks.

Exactly my thing. I do not like using pens which are passed from one hand to another. I just say thanks, I got my own pen, bring out the Vista and do my business. It has proven quite a success at this job.

I have a P51 Special that has been inked with Aurora Black every day since I got it. I have never even tried another ink in it. For some things you just need black ink and I like to have a pen with black ink ready to go.

For years I had a Sheaffer Targa that was never out of use but when that started to leak around the nib it was replaced with an Imperial TD that I got from Main Street Pens, which is also always inked and ready to go and I always have a conical nib Sheaffer or 2 inked. I love those pens.

My MB146 has been inked every single day since I got it. This surprises me.

Finally my 42 Parker Vac stub. Always inked. For years. Always Waterman Fl. Blue. But That's a pen that stays on my desk at work. I never travel with it anymore the thought of losing it or breaking it just worries me.

  • 3 months later...

I keep a number of pens in rotation at all times- often too many inked at a time (like so many of us.)

However, no matter if I have five or twenty-five going at a time, my Omas Galileo with Binder ItaliFine is always, ALWAYS inked.

With only one or two exceptions, it has always been Sailor Red Brown ink since I got the pen years and years ago.

I also asked John Mottishaw to swap out the original clip for a roller clip (and in silver tone) which I much prefer.

Best Regards, greg

Don't feel bad. I'm old; I'm meh about most things.

I have three pens that are always in rotation. They get refilled with the same ink and they are probably in need of a good cleaning.

Lamy 2000 (F) with R&K Verdigris.

Pelikan M400 white tortoise (EF) with R&K Alt-Goldgrun

Pelikan M400 green (EF) with R&K Alt-Bordeaux

All the other pens go through a slow rotation and get filled with many different inks.

Parker Sonnet sterling silver medium nib. Inked since I bought it new in summer 2014.

The other one always inked is my Pilot Custom "no name", my best EDC pen, wherever I go.

I keep one of my eight Parker 75 ciselé pens always inked for the last almost two years. The others include one of my P51 ero pens, one of my P45 gold nib flighters and a Sheaffer Imperial IV or VIII.

A Sheaffer Targa also sometimes joins the party. Lol.

One of several Parker 45 fountain pens is always in my pocket. Wouldn't leave home without it.

Platinum #3776 Century soft-fine with carbon black. Everything else gets rotated, but if there's not a Pelikan M2xx inked up I'm probably not well. Or possibly dead.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
