Looking For Help - Japanese

Cryptos

Recommended Posts

Hi fellow forumites,

This one is hoping to find a kindly FPN member living in Japan who would be able and willing to facilitate the acquisition of an item that is only available in that country. The item is mundane and not very expensive. Also, can anyone confirm that this kind of enterprise is acceptable from a legal standpoint. EoC thinks it is, as technically it would be a secondary market sale, but doesn't want to do something wrong and so asks for guidance here first.

Thank you.

Hmmm, just checked that site. They quote for domestic shipping but EoC cannot see where one puts in for overseas shipping.

The item this one is after has a note that says - "Due to licencing restrictions, this item is only available for shipping in Japan". Again, it is not clear if this applies to a secondary seller/buyer or not. EoC does not want to run afoul of any laws.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong but "licensing restrictions" would just mean that the particular vendor has made an agreement with their supplier to only ship with Japan and that agreement is only in place between the vendor and supplier. What a customer/3rd party does with a product after they have purchased it is completely up to them.

I'm not in Japan so I can't help acquire the goods but I see no legal reason it would be an issue to ask someone to do it for you.

typically most of the goods from Japan happen to fall under this hence their "stuck in Japan" part of my qoutes anyway depends on the said good you have third party couriers that can facilitate with the transactions your issue would most likely be if the shop in question needs to have the billing address same to the credit card or if they even accept foreign credit card transactions to begin with

White Rabbit and Japan 2 door comes to mind technically this how Atsu of Cool_Japan does his work but these businesses only thrives on trust (that your trusting them with the money you sent them to get your selected good)

Japan Post supports this type of transactions though for the local SMEs reach the global infrastructure

There are lots of buying services, for example Crescent Trading and Tenso, that will give you a Japanese address. You buy the stuff and have it shipped to that address. The services will forward the items on to you. Prices vary depending on where you are, how you want the item shipped, and so on. I've used all three services and have been very happy with them all.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
