Sailor Kobe # 51 Kano Cho Midnight

This ink has a ridiculous amount of green sheen :D :D ... maybe that is the "teal" people are talking about... Hint of green in the blue is actually the sheen. ;)

Attaching a pic taken in the WORST lighting conditions (office fluorescent lighting) with an OLD iPhone5 ..

I was already thinking, from vis' scans, that this is the blue-black I've been looking for but that photo cinches it.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

Noooooo!!! It's not listed on cool-japan's site. I've sent a message asking if it's just out of stock or discontinued. Hopefully I'll hear back in a day or two.

And I'd gone ahead and ordered a pen the same color as the green sheen, just for it.

It won't be discontinued; not all 60+ Kobes are listed at any one time on his site.

I expect he'll be able to get you a bottle, unless Nagasawa themselves are temporarily out of stock.

This looks really nice I love rich blue/indigo/black inks and of course sheen. Ink of witch also a favourite. BB Clown teardop and Sweet potato purple sheen to this green colour.

I just ordered a load of Kobe samples off some guy in scotland on ebay- he has all 54 colours. I don't really have the space (or the funds) to buy and keep the full bottles of these inks. (NB. I regularly buy other stuffs from cool japan who is an excellent seller). I may have to buy all 54 samples!

Well, that reassuring, migo, thanks. I don't mind waiting.

Even the Kobe Nagasawa page at Amazon currently not listing the #51. It seems that all the others are in stock, so it must be Nagasawa is out as well.

Nice ink. After Dark Lilac was released, I quickly realized that, of all my bottle ink choices, I favor darker blues and darker purples. This is next on the list. Thank you for sharing.

The pen is estimated to arrive Feb 13 -16, the ink Feb 10 - 28.

Oooh I don't even love the colour but I'll kill for that green sheen!

That green sheen only shows itself to me when it feels like... It has been quite trick for me to bring out, even though I use sheen prone paper.

But it's there.......

Not yet. I'm still working on a load of Witch and not about to waste a drop.

OH yeah, one of my favorites.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Ordered a bottle. Couldn't resist. Can't wait to receive it. I'll post an ink and writing sample when it arrives.

Arrived today from Japan. Really fast shipping! Loving it. It's too late in the evening to take good photos. I'll post some when the sun is up and I have a chance to snaps a few shots.

Mine arrived. Wrote a few lines with a Carter's dip pen, the green sheen is awesome. Trying to decide if I want to try it in a temporary pen until the one I'm planning on using it in arrives.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
