Cayenne Infused Pumpkin

Recommended Posts

I am only partially a fan of orange inks, and I have a fairly specific shade I am looking for. So I took Diamine Pumpkin (too bright, too Halloween Party), and mixed roughly two parts of that with one part of Noodler's Cayenne (sitting in a drawer because it smears so badly, and takes so long to "dry" —it takes days, it seems!). The result was pretty good, but the color was a bit shallow. So I added just a little bit of Diamine Red Dragon, and VOILÀ:

Not as persimmon-y as Fuyu-gaki, and not as dark as Deep Dark Orange. And it seems to dry within a reasonable amount of time!!

Thanks, Cyber6. I'm fairly pleased with it. We'll see if it becomes my new signature color... ;)

Thank you for sharing!

And here I was thinking it was a new spicy pumpkin recipe for Thanksgiving.

Not that Australians have Thanksgiving, but it sounded interesting anyway.

While I'm at it, can I recommend sweet potato chips? Not quite crispy, but very tasty.

I have had them! Very tasty, and as you say, "not quite crispy."

I do wonder, though, about how many people here in the US might be using Marmite or Bovril in their Thanksgiving feasts...

I can safely say, I will be using neither.

Right-o. I found the images, and then looked up what the substances were. The information came as quite a shock. ;)

Yes, both are pale imitations of the one true Vegemite.

From this article

Vegemite was originally Fred Walker Company, which became Kraft Walker Foods. It is now owned by US confectionery company Mondelēz International, but is still manufactured in Port Melbourne. The Kraft logo was only recently removed from the label.

  • 5 months later...

I know I'm late to the party, yet I must say this is a splendid ink! It has depth, character, and yumminess even if the grow chart isn't included.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
