Given that Bung box ink is rather dear here...I would like some advise on which blue black to indulge in...deciding between 4B and Silent Night has me in a quandary.
Any sage advise?
BTW this would be my first purchase of a true blue black ink. I'm extraordinarily picky about ink.
Both are fantastic inks, so I suppose this comes down to picky priorities: Do you prefer high lubrication in your inks? Depth? Something brighter (relatively speaking)? Darker? Sheen? Professional?
Seiya Silent Night is a fantastic, well-rounded everyday/work ink.
Amazing lubrication (works well with finicky, scratchy nibs), beautiful dark blue-black ink (more black than blue). Not much in the way of sheen (though it does sheen a bit on Tomoe) or shade, but it's my go-to blue-black in.
Love it.
4B has character. There's some crazy sheen to it and nice shading (especially with broader nibs; medium and up), wonderful color range (light indigo to a navy blue) and a good level of lubrication. I don't use it often because I can't quite use this sheeny ink at work, but I imagine a fine nib would eliminate that. I may use it more at some point, but I just don't have much in the way of use for it at present time, but it is beautiful.
Bung Box 4B (I'll fix the white balance later this evening and add a sample of Seiya as well.)
Hope that helped a bit!
