Vibrant blue and aquamarine sound interesting to my. Forrest Green would be great too. But maybe I would rather look out for a M600 green o' green as I prefer the smaller size.

Just ordered my first not previously owned Pelikan - a M200 Cognac - they seem to still be pretty widely available, for a Special Edition pen. (and it was advertised as such when I bought it) . All others I have had I purchased in the secondary market. (ebay, private party-but not ebay). Perhaps Appelboompen can enlighten us whether the Cognac is is still in production or not or if dealers are just selling off stock. I bought from a Japanese dealer through Amazon.

It is not available at Pelikan anymore. There are dealers who bought a lot of them and they have still stock. I expect that they will not be offered within a few months.

Love the anticipation of new releases!
While the Amethyst, orange and aquamarine are nice to consider, my favorites are the brand original binde patterns.
Can you imagine the binde with Amethyst or aquamarine? There's green, red, blue, brown tortoise, white tortoise, grey (Stresemann), the pink...hmm, am I missing any? But can you imagine a good violet/purple/amethyst binde? Or a true aquamarine/turquoise binde? An orange/sunset/pumpkin binde? Something along the line of favorite ink colors? AND in a smaller than m1000 version as well? We can dream...

Niche Pens still have the Cognac in stock. I just recently picked mine up from them, along with an italic ground nib...... Their service is incredibly polite and prompt.

The 400 tortoise will have my wallet out, for sure. I had an M800 tortoise, but it was just too big for my tastes. The 400 will be peeeerfect.

Made some revisions to that original post today based on Pelikan's recent announcements as well as some new information from a credible source. Check out the updates at http://wp.me/p4XMw3-Rv.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
