Kobe (神戸市 Kōbe-shi) is the sixth-largest city in Japan and is the capital city of Hyōgo Prefecture. It is located on the southern side of the main island of Honshū, on the north shore of Osaka Bayand about 30 km (19 mi) west of Osaka. With a population around 1.5 million, the city is part of the Kyoto-Osaka-Kobe metropolitan area along with Osaka and Kyoto. Its name comes from "kanbe" (神戸), an archaic title for supporters of the city's Ikuta Shrine. Kobe became one of Japan's 17 designated cities in 1956.

Kobe is famous for its shirines and nioce architecture but among fountain pen and ink afficionados the name Kobe cause increased heart-rate. The city is a home of Nagasawa-Kobe stationery shop that offers incredible lione of more than fifty inks made by Sailor.

My master - plan is to prepare comparison of full line of Nagasawa-Kobe inks. Not an easy task as they're not the most obtainable inks on the market, but hopefully I'll manage to do it :)

At the moment Nagasawa-Kobe offers 52 inks:

East Asia Black is well behaved ink. That's all I have to say about it.

This is one of my favourite black inks for pen and ink sketches. It is well-behaved, neutral and benign. I use it when I don't need a waterproof drawing ink.

Just wait. There's much more in this line. I guess some colors will make people drool. For you Tas I can imagine Nagisa Museum Grey stirring some emotion :)

Oh yes! #46! I'm sure I've given Tas a sample of that in the past. It's my top ink in the series.

I'm an open book, obviously . . . :)

Your sample turned into a bottle. (you read me well too  )

I LOVE the Museum Grey.

The joy is that a lot of these are readily available and not too dear. Unlike those unobtaniums like Cigar and Brown Algae etc. I feel king of nervous to use them. Whereas Museum Grey is in a pen (often my Falcon) most of the time. I'm seriously thinking of buying Nagata Blue 23 for £13 delivered.

Not enough reds in this line!

I have noticed that Sailor in general, don't do reds as well as other colors. BUT... when they do it right, OH MY.... hold on to your hat !!!!... :D :D

Akane (from Maruzen) is one of the most wonderful Reds I have ever seen...

I love black inks. Noodler's Black is my favorite, and since determining that it's my favorite, I have given away all my other black inks, except for Platinum Carbon Black. I would consider getting Sailor Kiwogura.

And maybe this one, too. It isn't waterproof, but it looks like a very nice black ink! I don't know. I'm intrigued.

I would consider this black ink. If it's well made, as sailor inks are, I'm already intrigued, but since it appears darker than Sailor Jentle black I'm quite intrigued. Kiwa-Guro's great, and though it's lubricated it isn't the wettest ink, so I've been on the look out for a good dark, more vibrant Sailor black ink that that doesn't break the bank, at least to the level Bungubox does.

Blacks may not be the most exciting, but they do offer great legibility if they don't go too gray and I like an ink to pop out at me so I might try this.

I would like to see the #65 Jet Black version, but no reviews have been done on that version yet : (

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
