Kobe (神戸市 Kōbe-shi) is the sixth-largest city in Japan and is the capital city of Hyōgo Prefecture. It is located on the southern side of the main island of Honshū, on the north shore of Osaka Bayand about 30 km (19 mi) west of Osaka. With a population around 1.5 million, the city is part of the Kyoto-Osaka-Kobe metropolitan area along with Osaka and Kyoto. Its name comes from "kanbe" (神戸), an archaic title for supporters of the city's Ikuta Shrine. Kobe became one of Japan's 17 designated cities in 1956.

Kobe is famous for its shirines and nioce architecture but among fountain pen and ink afficionados the name Kobe cause increased heart-rate. The city is a home of Nagasawa-Kobe stationery shop that offers incredible lione of more than fifty inks made by Sailor.

My master - plan is to prepare comparison of full line of Nagasawa-Kobe inks. Not an easy task as they're not the most obtainable inks on the market, but hopefully I'll manage to do it :)

At the moment Nagasawa-Kobe offers 52 inks:

Mikage Grey is decent grey ink with purple accents. On Tomoe River it looks stronly purplish on other papers it can still be called grey. Not bad.

Thanks for the review! This is one of my favourite inks. I love ambiguous ink colours!

Can the title of the post be corrected to indicate that this is #10 & not #11? I was surprised to see the grey ink until I realised the # difference between the title & the information inside the review.

 

As always a wonderful introduction to an interesting ink. Thank you.

Oh, that is a nice grey. It recalls... Iroshizuku... which one? [Thinking aloud.]

 

I'm using Faber-Castell Stone Grey these days (for the past couple of, few months).... It'd be cool to see these two side-by-each. Off-hand, FBSG is lighter.

 

Anyway, very nice.

Just enough purple to sneak onto my wish list.

 

I was thinking something similar. I like the blue / purple grays, but wasn't a big fan of Tamon Purple.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy.       I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
