I noticed the changes also. I wonder what happened.

I've been going for the last five or six years and Friday

was always kind of slow.

I found this in another thread and it sheds some light on

the show changes.

Congrats to Scott and Franklin-Christoph!

Now to save up for the special Philly Ink and pen.

I'm looking forward to going to this show; it will be my first. I'm trying my best not to spend a wad of money before then so I can make at least one significant purchase at the show!

There are at least a few of us that worked in Center City and appreciated the Friday hours so that we didn't have to trek back to into town over the weekend - praticulalrly in January when leaving home some weekends can be a difficult decision.

Yes, a wee bit disappointing but, that said, I'm already excited for the show --I'll be the one drooling at Bryant's table and forking over hard-saved dollars for Franklin-Christoph delightments. On a side note, it's high time Philadelphia had its own B & M store.

I too was surprised and slightly disappointed by some of the changes in the Philly Show. I've gone 3 years in a row now and I am definitely planning on going this January. I liked going on Friday because it was kinda slow, making it easier to peruse each table's offerings, and I was able to bring a couple of pens to get worked on. The lists for the pen repair people fill up quick on Saturdays. I also liked the Sheraton because the parking garage was right next door and the hotel was just a few blocks away from the bridge. Anyway, I was interested to see that a new nibmiester will be there.

Yeah, the garage was relatively cheap and easy to find. The new hotel doesnt seem all that much further away . . . I will probably park there again.

Sadly, the date change means I can't go. :(

No nibmeisters confirmed yet for the show?

Current Wishlist:

Visconti, Visconti, and...more Visconti! (And some ST Duponts too). (Ok fine, getting on the Omas and Montblanc trains now too. Toot toot.) (And maybe on the Montegrappa one too, but only for the Miyas.)

No worries Pen Friends! Its still gonna be great! Bert worked hard to make this show one of the best! This should continue with the enthusiasm of the show, and big FP base in the region!

I am looking forward to my first "Home Show" in my new venture! Federalist Pens will be there!!

Unfortunately, I will no longer be able to help out at the Philly Pen Club table...

(I have participated in this show in the past as a hobby vintage vendor)

Jackson- I am not a B&M, but I am based in the region. Not considering a B&M yet, but you never know! ;)

There is one.

His name is Mark Bacas.

It looks like several of the usual suspects won't make it this time around. However, like Frank, I'm still excited for the show (I look forward to it each year) and will be attending.

Good to know, Frank--a snug regional home for talking/trying/buying pens--vintage and/or otherwise--would be most welcome!

I'm planning on attending in Philly, and this will be my first pen show. Do any veterans have any sense of how this show compares with the one in LA in February (I may be there for business)? Any lessons learned about how to get the most out of a day at the show? Thanks!

Does anyone know if I need to bring anything to the "Absolute Beginner Spencerian" class with Michael Ward ... never been to a show before, let alone a class.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
