New Kickstarter Project: Infinity Apyros

Aramchek

Recommended Posts

I noticed there is a new fountain pen project on kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2026090977/infinity-apyros-fountain-pen

Interesting design but not really my flavour. I'm also a bit worried about the ergonomics of the section for someone like me that has fairly large hands.

No affiliation etc etc bla bla bla...

Dang, Aramcheck beat me to it! ;) +2 Experience Points for rapid posting.

I agree with him that I'm not sure I'll back this one. The pen is reasonably priced, but the aesthetics of it simply aren't my cup of tea. Given that the creator is apparently an award-winning designer with years of experience, I'd rather pay more for something more elaborate. (You can click through a link on the page to see a catalog of some of his stuff, including a couple of stunningly gorgeous pens for S.T. Dupont that I've never seen before -- I'd guess because I think they're ultra-ultra-expensive limited models for select clientele or something.)

But diff'rent nib strokes for diff'rent folx an' all that. ;)

I like the fact that the nib unit unscrews from the section. And I like that it's a screw-on cap. But I don't see how this will post easily. And I don't like the fact that it's clip-less.

It's attractive looking -- but I agree that it doesn't look all that ergonomic.

I think it looks nice, but I just can't tell how well it will write. I don't see any mention of the nib manufacturer. I learned my lesson about buying beautiful pens that don't write well on a blue Kaweco All-Rounder.

Actually, if you look at the rewards, he does say they come with Schmidt nibs.

Thanks, I missed that. I don't know much about Schmidt nibs but it looks like they raised the target amount.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
