Rekonect Magnetic Journal

Personally I love this idea and have already backed the project. Being able to re-organize the journal as I write in it, add/remove pages, etc. is awesome. It's many of the benefits of a three-ring binder without the drawbacks.

That's a really clever idea.

Yes, the concept is really kinda neat. Although I'm not completely convinced that the magnets in the spine won't screw up my credit card strips or my cell phone if I put one of these notebooks in my purse or laptop bag -- no matter what they claim.

Thanks for posting the link. I wonder how FP friendly the paper is....

Agree. Not something I'd let anywhere near my wallet, leave near anything with a memory, including my head! Also not very ecofriendly: got to make magnets, put on the paper and how about recycling.

Will probably sell at least one to lots of people, but not two. By then the company will be a unicorn and the owners 3-commas.

Well, no point in speculating -- I'll ask the project creators directly about potential risk to credit cards (etc.) and see what they have to say.

great idea which I'd really like to use; but I don't like products that force me to rely on their continuous support, because I can't get necessary supplies elsewhere.

With that in mind I'm not so sure if this is a nice once-in-a-lifetime experience or really an idea that can carry on many years (which I would like: to write in a journal and take out the leaves for sorting somewhere else...)

Greetings,

Michael

They also mentioned a patent pending - 'magnetic paint' - did they not? Not too sure about that.

I saw this a while ago and just checked if someone talked about it in the forums. Looks really cool! Wonder if they are fountain pen friendly.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
