Had a couple sent to friends. I certainly cannot mail it for 99¢.

Thanks for posting. Just ordered it. A few weeks ago, there was a post for $1.00 Hero fountain pen.

Seems China economy has slowed down quite a bit. Many local vendors got too much inventory and too little cash...

My first one went through the wash and it's still working perfectly fine.

I think this is a fine time to invest in a second one while they're still inexpensive as a giveaway pen. :D

A day after I received mine, I gave it away to a colleague that liked it.

Good to know that it is back again and time to get another one.

Not to bring a downer on cheap (but still one of my favorite) pens - I have had a fair few of these 99c black X450's fail on me. From not drawing ink to having the them leak badly.

I collect X450s + X750s never had a problem with writing with them except for the black X450s - something to think about.

If all else fails you will more than likely just get refunded your money, I did and then broke the pen down into its pieces and put it in my spare parts drawer.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have one and while I find it heavy, it is aesthetically pleasing and a nice extension to my 30-some different brands of black German pens from the 50's - 60's.

NB: the price of .99 yuan is presented as 75¢. At today's rate of C 6.4 to $1, this is actually 16¢. There is concern about the Chinese decision to lower the yuan (C = Chinese Peoples Renminbi) exchange rate to make it a part of the IMF money basket. But I think you may buy the Jinhao 450 safely at this price.

The link from this thread shows the price in USD. There is another thread of the same item linking to another seller that has it listed as $0.99 C. I had just bought from them and it did indeed charge me the $0.74 USD each after exchange rate.

I received my $99 cent Jinhao X450 last week. It writes good, though it leaks one time (and only one time).

Oh, I bought two, from one Flea-Bay vendor or another. I'm still waiting. I hope mine don't leak.

Is it certain that these Jinhao X450s are, um, fully authentic?

I've received mine and it's authentic. Why anyone would want to ripoff a Jinhao, I have no idea...

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
