What Converter Works With This Pen?

Alright so at my local staples, there was a sale on Cross gift pens. This exact set http://www.staples.com/Cross-Bailey-Fountain-Pen-Gift-Set-Medium-Nib-Black-Lacquer-Each/product_1624258?cid=PS:GooglePLAs:1624258&ci_src=17588969&ci_sku=1624258&KPID=1624258&lsft=cid:PS-_-GooglePLAs-_-1624258,kpid:1624258&gclid=COH09pCK6cgCFZOBaQod6vAEnQ

Anyways, I love the pen. However, I detest cartridges with the burning passion of a thousand suns. I've been looking into some converters for this pen, and I came across this forum. Somebody mentioned something about an "orange threaded" converter working, and this is the only orange threaded converter I can find http://www.amazon.com/Cross-Fountain-Converter-Screw--Style/dp/B0044R7EQS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1446170022&sr=8-1&keywords=cross+ink+converter#Ask

Would this converter work? If not, do you guys have one that will?

Thank you all for taking the time to read this thread and possibly help me, it is much appreciated!

I got a Cross pen and had no clue which converter to buy. Cross answered e-mail pretty quickly and told me which color.

Do you know what their email address is by any chance?

Your link leads to a page of electronic supplies at Staples, so we can't have a look at your pen.

As far as I remember Cross has a list on their website which pens take what converter.

If you are asking by email, you would either need a model name and number, or a good clear picture of the pen to send to Cross.

Good luck

  • 2 weeks later...

I recently had some Stratfords come into the stable, and the #8756 fits them, too. The legend on the convertor package says it fits all but the Townsend and Aventura. The converters I bought were dark, nearly black but translucent.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
